Love how open you are about why her ears got mats. You are so gentle and sweet with her. Amazing qualities to have. Loved when you loosened the noose. And, yes, it helped me. We have a new addition to fur-family .. a 1 year toy poodle. I'm very experienced with some other breeds grooming (show grooms) but not a poodle. I'm soaking this up. I trust very few people to leave my dogs to be groomed by, seen too much roughness when owners are not watching. I'd trust you!!! Hope you heal fast from your surgery 🙏! Happy Easter weekend! You did such a fabulous job!!! Thank you so much for doing this step by step. The groomers I take my Zoe (7.5lb 13 year old toy poodle) to will not take the hair out of her ears because she tries to bite them. So I am working on it at home. I had an amazing groomer for years but had to search for another one because she cut her hours to nearly half. She has a grooming appointment this coming Saturday and I am praying she will be the groomer we stay with permanently. 🙏🏼🙏🏼

@@patiencebrooke6908 Congrats on your new family member! Just wanted to share, my most recent dog is a 7# YorkiPoo. Almost all of my previous dogs have been larger dogs (Golden Retrievers and Rough Collie). It was daunting when I got the Yorki Poo, caring for her was so different. Not problematic or hard, just different. Rudy's videos have helped me out a lot. I watched several of them while I was waiting for my little one, and even once she arrived (during those frequent naps!). It was really helpful to have a little 'heads up' on things. Touch those little paws, ears and even introduce a toothbrush from the start frequently (if you have a puppy friendly toothpaste, otherwise just water), and it will really help your grooming sessions down the road. Have fun and ENJOY!! 😘 🐶

@@DMH_701 great question, we have an upcoming podcast episode talking in depth about that..if it is absolutely necessary due to infection, or other health concerns I would have a Professional groomer ,or vet do it quick..but if started early, and done like I'm showing, most of the time you can get most dogs to accept it..Going hard and quick from the start, you most often loose there trust..I always suggest using this method first..I appreciate your comment and for watching us

Wouldn't it be better to do nip away at it. I've seen some some horrible things. I cry when I nip my dog's nail to close and it bleeds. I run around because I forget to get the stuff ready to stop the bleedIng. Styptic or corn starch w/baking soda. Is there anything a dog owner could do to help or prevent the build up hair?? 😢😢

@@janeanmonger7529 Correct, you are not a professional dog groomer, because if you were you would not leave a comment like this, and you would understand that its taking a long time because the dog has mats in his ears ,so I'm doing the opposite of what your saying by Not doing it so quickly, by just starting to yank with forceps, because as I mention in the video that would hurt the dog..As a professional dog groomer, I'm taking extra time,doing it slowly, for the sole purpose of not hurting the dog..That is what the video is about..
@janeanmonger7529

@@GroomingByRudy nobody said anything about hurting the dog,,,,but the longer that you try and get hair out and dont get any.....and the longer the dog has to wait for you to do your job,,,,the dog suffers. You can do it quickly and get the hair out with out hurting the dog IF you know how to do it the right way.

@@janeanmonger7529 would you tell Plumber, or an Electrician how to do there job? Why do you think it's ok to tell a groomer how to do there job? As I said your opinion doesn't matter..I am doing it the correct way..The reason I attended grooming school for six months..Trying to do it quickly, as you are suggesting in a situation like this,with mats in the ears,would be incorrect, and brutal on the dog..I would do it quicker if the ears didn't have mats in them,but to suggest yanking the mats out with the hemostates would be so unfair to a clients dog..If your working on your own dogs,its one thing, but again as a professional dog groomer, I take pride in making there dogs feel as comfortable as I can..
@corinnelsmith
@corinnelsmith 2 ай бұрын
@@janeanmonger7529are you kidding? Pulling mats out of a dogs ear quickly and in big clumps is extremely painful and can also cause a hematoma in the dogs ear because they start shaking their head from the trauma and pain. The ear swells and is painful. I saw him grabbing plenty of hair the entire video so you may need to put some glasses on or rewatch the video. You can hear the hair coming out the entire time in fact. I feel bad for your dogs- causing them such pain and discomfort by yanking their hair out. You can say you aren’t hurting them all you want, but even in dogs without yeast or ear infections, taking too much hair in each pluck is painful. That’s a fact. I wish someone would yank your ear hair out in one giant pull and see you how much you like it.

I’m sorry, but you just extend the pain more cause you kept “stretching” the time plucking/annoying the sore ear canal (“you see that”) moving and twisting it around, instead of just doing what you were supposed to do. Ok, you wanna teach- fair enough. But saying the same thing on the other ear instead of just working through, I think was to no use.. I know I might sound a bit harsh, but when writing it’s hard bringing the actual tonnage to it (if it makes sense) I’m not trying to sound as if I know better- but see it more as a question and opinion mixed… Overall I think you could’ve done this better, cause no doubt that you know how. It was more a “lack of judgement”… 🐶
