After buying my first Grote, i bought another, then another and another. I think i have all of their Hollow body guitars now. Will now check out their other's. Hey, great review! No wild promises and just straight honest opinion. Great job! Helps us to know before buying.

Probably the best review of the Grote Jazz Guitar I've seen yet. Love your playing, tone and effects. The knobs look great! I changed the tuners to Gotoh Keystones and got rid of the softwood bridge support in favor of a true rosewood one (huge improvement in volume and sustain) for $15. I removed the pick guard, as you did, and added a 0.125" pickup shim and I'm using D'Addario Half-Round strings. The fret board was quite thirsty so I applied 3 dressings of regular mineral oil. The frets were quite good right out of the box and the nut seems OK. I agree, fit and finish aren't fabulous but really not bad for $169 US. I'm not planning any other mods. I love the P-90 and you absolutely nailed it regarding pick/strum location having a huge tonal impact. I really like how loud this guitar is when playing it unplugged - great "acoustic" sound. This one is a keeper!

I have a red one, haven't changed anything on it. I like mine, but I noticed a few imperfections. It's a fantastic guitar, I would recommend it for anyone who is looking for a vintage style guitar or a non cutaway guitar for a low price.

On floating bridge guitars you can use thin 2 sided tape so the base doesn't move. I have done this many times on much more expensive guitars . I have one on order cherry red finish.. Thanks for a great review 👍

I have the 335 clone and just got this Epiphone clone this week. Both guitars were set up well at the factory. All I did with both is change the strings. Nice guitars for the price.

I am a card-carrying member of the "Grote Cult". Not perfect guitars, but the word value comes to mind, as for the price you get quite a sweet guitar. Thanks for the review!

Great clip. This looks like a great guitar. I had two questions: One, how wide is the nut width? (I really favor wider nuts/necks). And second, how much does the guitar weigh? I'm coming at this from a Hofner Club Bass (weight just over 5lbs) so I'm spoiled.

Nice review. Quick question, I play at very low bedroom volumes. How noisy are the pickups at low volume? They seem pretty quiet here. Nice playing too,

Hi Bob...this P-90 should be fine for your purposes...I had my Rode microphone about 2 feet away from the amp for this vid and as you've noted...very minimal noticeable hum from the Grote...if you can find one of the guits...buy it...Cheers :):)
