Actually remember seeing him as contestant on the show. Dad laughed harder than me. Then I saw him on Rio Bravo. His performance on You Bet Your Life was seen and made him a star. Recently found out one of my most favorite actors, Clifton Collins Jr. is his grandson. Wow! Blown away and really made my day. Also very much enjoyed seeing Pedro's brother in movies. Good bloodline, Clifton.

Pedro first came to my attention in a western called "Wings of the Hawk" starring Van Heflin and Julie Adams. I was curious about Pedro because his character was so sweet and charming, and the acting was so natural. I've met many people like this of different races, and when you really get to know them, you simply just see them as another human being, and sitting and talking with them you realize how much we as a human race have in common: the desire to bond with others, make each other laugh, and really touch the soul. This type of comedy is a gift because it is filled with heart. I could imagine him sitting on his porch and entertaining all the kids just like some of the other older men and women I've met whose spirits still live long after they are gone from our earth.

I remember seeing a rerun of this as a kid. I said; "Dad, that's Carlos from Rio Bravo!!!" He had us both laughing hard watching this. When you can stand toe to toe with Groucho you know you're good.

He was born in 1925 and started doing comedy in 1932, that's right, that means he would have been 7 years old. One of the reasons he couldn't read. Was always out performing to make money to feed his 9 brothers and sister, who were also part of the entertainment troupe.

Hi Primo - I am sorry we haven't met but we share a Tia (Virginia) and many other Garcia/Gonzalez relatives in San Antonio. Thanks for posting these. Pete Haney brought some clips to the last Garcia reunion and we all belly laughed! It's so wonderful the family had an impact on early Mex-Am theater with La Carpa Garcia and later, TV/film with Pedro's great work and of course your stellar career in Hollywood! I applaud your efforts to revere and advance Hispanics in film! --Monica Garcia Brooks

America needs more men like your grandfather. I always liked him in the movie. This clip had me laughing my butt off. He reminds me of the spanish version of Don Knotts. Same nervous mannerisms and yet not breaking out laughing when bringing down the house.

Cliff, your Grandpa's appearance was probably THE most remembered appearance by ANYONE in all the years of this long-lived program. I remember hearing The Duke talk about him with fondness a long time ago. Is it true he started with one house and ended up owning the entire neighborhood?

hey, i just saw PGG in an episode of I dream of Jeannie. They were doing a tribute to recently deceased Larry Hagman/ Major Nelson & his next door neighbor was Pedro on a riding lawnmower that didn't work. Mjr Nelson had Jeannie's power for a day & told Pedro his lawnmower would be faster than a car. You guessed it,Pedro is riding the lawnmower at blistering speeds[film speed up] thru fences, bushes, sidewalk &ppl jumping out the way, went over a open manhole cover & sucked off a workers toupee!
