I think Dick Cavett was such a great interviewer because no matter who he interviewed, he always really sat back and listened to them!

Groucho was a character, and that is meant as a compliment. We don't have "characters" any more. Everyone seems so sterile, jaded, cookie-cutter copy of each other, bland, boring these days. Nobody sticks out and has their own character. Dull as dishwater. Everyone seems the same as the next guy or gal. Uniqueness has gone into obscurity in this day and age. That's why we watch KZbin to see these priceless, golden oldies!

Poor Mr. Number1HB. I cannot imagine a life without knowledge and appreciation of Groucho. This man (along with his brothers, of course) revolutionized comedy.

How awesome would it be to be able to sit and listen to his stories at the Thanksgiving table?

back during this time people didn't understand innuendo, they we're being too blocked from real comedy by censorship, now it's the opposite and people seem to immature to handle the jokes. Groucho brought a nice balance, a clever use of innuendo through storytelling; something we haven't seen before or since.

do you know notice the twinkle in his eyes and the youth in his voice and body once he relives the story with the gorilla?

The characters "Mr. Blumenfeld" and "George Caffyn" from PG Wodehouse's Jeeves and Wooster stories are based on Old Man Bloomingdale and George Kaufman as described by Groucho in this interview.

You can tell Groucho didn't like being interviewed by his constant talking to the audience, body language and smart remarks. Dick was too polite trying to get a word in the conversation.

Well I am just saying many people last century in the entertainmant world were followers of Judiism, and without their contributions you would not have half the animation you do today, nor the comady that we have traditionaly loved in general as a contry

not bad for a jewish man, not that I dont like the jewish I do love to learn about their faith, but its crazy how many jewish comedians there are, jerry lewis, jeff goldblum, woody allen, fran drecser, tom arnold, roseann barr, the stillers, adam sandler, and gilbert godfreied just to name a few, and that dont include all the ones from the past like the ones that ran the animation studios or the three stooges who were also jewish.

"...many people last century in the entertainmant world were followers of Judiism..." Try actually reading. It will help 1) your spelling, 2) your perception of relevance, and 3) the factuality of the things you say.
