Cheers for making the effort at showing people how to do it. I'd never installed one before today and wanted to try and make sure I didn't make any rookie mistakes. Fixed 2 to the floor, both went in like a dream, even with the £4 Screwfix masonry bit I bought yesterday. I even put a little dab of grease on the ball bearings at the end, as I could see them pinging off and me hunting around on my hands and knees for the little bastards in the dark.

Enjoyed watching this. A good honest how to video. Well done. It’s always easy in theory. It’s when you actually do things you realise you need the correct tools and acute know how such as fixing them at the correct height as to make it difficult for a thief. Thanks again.

@@richardb2468 I had to change my plan. I bought a Pragmasis chain which is a square lump of a chain £90 for 1m length. The links are 70mm wide, so, needed a bigger ring to pass the chain through. So, bought a Taurus bull ring ground anchor with 250mm that sets in concrete. Dug a 1/8 cubic metre out of my driveway which is over half a tonne and ordered ready mix company to deliver the mix to fill up the hole/concrete slab to chain bike to with Pragmasis chain and Pragmasis round lock and for bike to stand on. This is outside my front door which has a Ring doorbell camera and records anything that moves in front of it. That bike is going nowhere. Check out Bennets for testing chains etc. The guy grinds, sledge hammers chains and locks etc. Pragmasis are the toughest chains and locks you can buy. They couldn't break the round lock with a sledge hammer!

I would drill the holes very carefully and use the same plugs but also add a chemical resin to help keep them in the wall and they will be in there tight then

@@richardb2468 It was just a normal garage floor! I drilled down to exactly the required depth but the bolt just wouldn’t grip. I had to argue with it to get it out and then put bolt in vice to undo . It was just mess. Drilled another hole and it went in perfect. Maybe I hit a void or something or maybe just a bit of bad luck .

Hi, great concise video, my question isn’t really about the installation but about the location. I note you mention that you’re in a car port and that people live above, I live in a block of flats (housing association) I really need to fit an anchor as the bike will be gone in no time even though it’s parked outside my window. My question is do I have to get permission to install something like this, my housing association’s default answer for anything is usually no. Do you own or rent the car port and did you have to get permission. Thanks
@richardb24684 жыл бұрын
I would simply install it as they are very inconspicuous, if the housing association have an issue then you can remove with a grinder and easily fill the holes

Hi, Do you have any idea why the bolts are so stiff to turn. I can't manage that part, it just feels stuck and by you it looks easy. What am I doing wrong?

Samson Kahan they may be cross threaded, there may be grit around the bolt, the hole may be slightly too small. Remove and try again

Good video but it's not too difficult to take out the brick but it'd be a noisy job whether using a multi tool or the old fashion chisel and hammer. I'd go for the floor if that's an option which in case, it clearly wasn't.

It would be easier to cut the chain or the anchor. If they removed the brick they would still have it attached to the bike 😂

Jefferson Oishi if the kerb is made from concrete then be careful while drilling as concrete is quite brittle and tends to crack, so when drilling it don't use hammer action on the drill. Possibly use a resin also for extra protection
