It's such an easy process, I wish I'd do it years ago. Peace of mind for sure. It's not the be all end all solution, but it does help. Enjoy

Great video, I've just got the oxford docking station in prep for my new bike. Are these alright to be secured to house brick? (is it a wall mount) - Cheers

Excellent video! Thanks man. Just had my really expensive bike nicked after just 2 days. Def looking at something like this. Is the chain solid? Not wanting to go to the hassle of fitting an anchor and they just break the chain. Def needing a deterent tho
@ric842 жыл бұрын
In this setup i'd say the brick wall is your weakest link. I wouldn't worry about the chain since cutting chain is terrifying especially when it's suspended off of the floor. Should you go for one of these, don't bother going over 14mm since that is the diameter of the anchor itself.

Nice work, however my suggestion for an improvement would be to mount the anchors in the the concrete floor, as it’s much harder to compromise….
@MikesMTBAdventures3 жыл бұрын
Agree. Just didn't have the room I need.
@NaziHampster2 жыл бұрын
Incorrect. Mounted higher means a thief cant use bolt croppers against the floor for extra leverage. Higher the better.
@harryedwards9318 Жыл бұрын
Unfortunately a sharp hacksaw would get through this in minutes and it wouldn’t make much noise either It is a good deterrent for an opportunist though well fitted
@1zanglang Жыл бұрын
@@harryedwards9318 Good luck with that. Some would rather use a sledge hammer to brake out that anchor from that brick wall, or an angle grinder to cut that chain in seconds.
@lukavsoundseeker16423 жыл бұрын
The anchor looks really solid, but I wonder how difficult will be for them to go through padlock. Cause if they do that.... They're good to go...
@MikesMTBAdventures3 жыл бұрын
There's so many pros and cons lukav. Main thing is, its better than nothing. 👌👌👊
@lukavsoundseeker16423 жыл бұрын
@@MikesMTBAdventures off course! I'm not criticising just making a point that it doesn't matter how solid is the anchor if padlock won't be up to the task. But even if they would try to drill through padlock it would be noisy so risky for the thief. Unless they have any other methods. Anyway, yeah anything that slows them down is better than nothing. It's a great and informitive video by the way

and what do you do when you move to another flat? how to remove it from the wall?

I'm not moving. However if I did, then I'd leave it there. I mean make a decision. Personal choice after all

@@MikesMTBAdventures once fitted it remains there, unless your willing to remove the bricks or concrete. but still theres no point as you will never remove the steel balls once they have been hammered in..

oh i'm having so much trouble with the balls, hitting them as light as you do isn't working, hitting it hard isn't working either.. The screws are also loosening because of the vibrations when my hammer hits.. I'm going to get loctite next week when the store opens and use that and maybe i should look for something else instead of the balls to cover up the screw

If you have Vernier calipers you could measure the BB size and buy a fractionally smaller size set of BBs
@superchickensoup2 жыл бұрын
That would come out of that wall in 30 seconds or a concrete floor in a couple of minutes with a 54v cordless chisel, at the end of the day everything is only a deterrent, with cordless tools or a small gas axe it can all be taken in minutes.
@stuartbrown25 Жыл бұрын
fare enough but it all makes noise and theres the alarm sounding, so you hear the alarm then you creep up on them and smash the thieves with a barbell from the gym room. i guarantee they won't come back especially with smashed hands, they will get the message not to f-ck with the wrong people and their property.

Angle grinder on the chain makes this pointless
@ADHDJ0NT Жыл бұрын
Not really, it's a deterrent. Definitely better than just a chain around the wheel and frame.
@jjboswell5043 Жыл бұрын
Also angle grinders take time on these chains, it's not like a regular one. You ever touched a loose chain with an angle grinder, kid?
@scottrobinson156410 ай бұрын
Everything is pointless to an exstent, the harder you make it less likely it will be taken. I have neighbours at home all day. Deterant is pretty much every lock and safety measures to stop a scumbag.
