I sent an IG message to Jacob about this, but want you to see it, too: Last night my Partner decides he wanted Bulgogi. Bulgogi on Labour Day evening. I remembered this video and tried it - my man was iffy about it, but when he saw how much Jacob enjoyed it he gave it a shot "Jake obviously loves it. THAT is a Bulgogi happy face. If Jake likes it that much, I want some!" An hour later, NO leftovers, and he practically licked the bowl clean LOL Thank you both so much for making these videos! I love Korean food anyhow, but my partner was stationed in South Korea with the Army for MANY years and was married to a Korean lady, so we eat a LOT of Korean dishes - and your videos have REALLY helped me learn. Thank you and Jacob for making our lives better! (have to get some of your shirts now!!!)

OMG. I made this tonight for my wife and youngest son (17 years old). We polished off 1 1/2 lbs no leftovers! I can't stress enough how amazing this was. I didn't have mirin so I used rice wine vinegar with 1tsp of sugar per 1 tbsp of vinegar. I didn't have plum extract so I used peach jam with a splash of plum wine. Put it on steamed rice with some stir fried bok choy on the side. Lots of sriachhia and it was Unbelievable!! I can't stop thinking about it. Can't wait to make it again!!

Thank you Seonkyoung for another great recipe!

Several months ago, I was craving Bulgogi but didn't have the money for sliced beef. I made up my own recipe that I called "Budget Bulgogi" using ground beef. It is very similar to your recipe, almost identical, actually. I have served it every other week, sometimes with rice and other times with rice noodles. The family loves it and it works for my gluten free son. All this time, I felt like I was cheating or it was second rate but you have vindicated me! Also, this is only the 2nd video of yours that I have watched. I intend to watch them all. Thanks for the encouragement to keep cooking!

My wife is Taiwanese and is a very good cook, but this was my turn to cook. We bought a bunch of burger patties for the shelter in place period and were getting tired of burgers so I happened to find this video and tried it out, it turned out really good and my picky wife really liked it. I had to make one small change since I didn’t have the plum extract so I put in a Tbsp of Grand Marnier, since it’s only one Tbsp I’m sure it’s not a huge difference.

@NickFerry
@NickFerry 3 жыл бұрын
@@Tstreet91 First off I have to say that this dish is really easy to make and it is really quite delicious - i’ve made it probably a dozen times so far in the last six months or so Given I’ve made it a few times now I’ve played around with the quantity of the garlic and plum extract (we use apricot jelly) and our family has found it great just as it is in the video - if you don’t want as much garlic I’m sure you could lighten that up but given the sort of braising that takes place in the cooking, the garlic really mellows out

Because she doesn’t tell you I’ll remind you all to season your wok before cooking meat with it, you season it by adding oil and spreading it around the whole wok until you get wok hay (smoke around the edges) then not long after you can throw away that oil and then put new oil in and when that is ready start your chosen recipe !

You've got a new subscriber! This was so yummy! I made it this evening and it was a hit. I made a few alterations. I didnt have rice wine so I substituted it with coconut vinegar and just added a tiny bit more sugar to balance it out. I only had raspberry syrup lol so I tried that. Lined my bowl with spinach and arugula before adding the rice + beef..... then topped with sliced avocado and spicy mayo I made!!! Cant wait to make more. Thank you

Love this recipe and your videos. l feel like l have made this recipe at least a thousand times in the last few years. From day one l have doubled the recipe and instead of plum wine l use apricot preserves, won’t do it any other way now. Thanks for sharing this!

My husband and step-son love this recipe. My husband couldn't find any plum extract so we used the jelly and I think it is perfect! So delicious! I am so happy you make videos for your recipes because I keep losing my printed copy. Also your videos give me the confidence to try something new. Thank you for adding the ingredient list to your videos.

OMG this would have matched up perfectly with my jasmine rice and stir fried watercress instead of meatloaf for lunch this week.

You can substitute plum abstract for honey! It worked amazingly; or dare I say…..better 🤭. Idk, I made this recipe a lot of times, and this time was the best. I used the honey and added some red curry paste by Thai! It was incredible!

I just wanted to take a moment to say thank you for this awesome recipe. I've watched many of your videos and thoroughly enjoy your enthusiasm and easy no nonsense approach to Asian cooking. Believe it or not I made this dish for my wife one night for our dinner action and she and I both loved it so much that I made another fresh batch on the following day! So very yummy and super fast and easy to make with minimal ingredients. BTW Excellent video and production quality by you and your husband. Thanks for sharing your recipes with all of us.

So good. Just found the channel and recipe. I put it over ramen I cooked in homemade beef stock and drizzled my homemade chili garlic oil over it (after the sesame seeds and green onions). Omg. Yummy.

What a lovely lady, so original, with the cute accent and the perfect skin. Anyway, I prepared this recipe this evening. I had just about all the ingredients except for the plum extract which I substituted with excellent California grapes. My wife is from Iowa, you know, meat, pork, potatoes, and corn. And, plenty of milk and tons of ice cream. I guess depending on what part of the state you come from. So, this type of food is alien to her. No more! She loved it to the point she said she was going to add more ground beef to her rice. Hahahahahaha... Of course, we both enjoyed it very much and the recipe stays until next time. Thank you very much nice lady. I had a fun time preparing your recipe and my wife gave me a ten out of ten. Keep them coming.

Love the recipe, but I have a problem, I live in Switzerland and can't find Plum Extract anywhere, checked out all our Asian grocery stores and special grocery stores, but none of them carry Korean products. What can I use as a substitution for the plum extract? Thanks a bunch!
