I made this recipe and it was delicious! I didn't have the plum extract but was still very good. As you stated Seonkyoung it's important to let the liquid evaporate so the beef caramelizes. Several months ago, I was craving Bulgogi but didn't have the money for sliced beef. I made up my own recipe that I called "Budget Bulgogi" using ground beef. It is very similar to your recipe, almost identical, actually. I have served it every other week, sometimes with rice and other times with rice noodles. The family loves it and it works for my gluten free son. All this time, I felt like I was cheating or it was second rate but you have vindicated me! Also, this is only the 2nd video of yours that I have watched. I intend to watch them all. Thanks for the encouragement to keep cooking!

@NickFerry
@NickFerry 2 жыл бұрын
@@Tstreet91 First off I have to say that this dish is really easy to make and it is really quite delicious - i’ve made it probably a dozen times so far in the last six months or so Given I’ve made it a few times now I’ve played around with the quantity of the garlic and plum extract (we use apricot jelly) and our family has found it great just as it is in the video - if you don’t want as much garlic I’m sure you could lighten that up but given the sort of braising that takes place in the cooking, the garlic really mellows out

I tried this recipe with the Trader Joe’s beefless ground beef and it was SO GOOD!! As a meat eater I literally could not have told you that it wasn’t real ground beef with this recipe! I’m excited to have it as lettuce wraps for lunch! Thank you for another DELICIOUS recipe!!

I'm half Korean and I love Bulgogi. Sometimes we had it cooked on a charcoal grill and that was my favorite. My mom is Korean. She moved back to South Korea after my dad passed away and lives on my Korean grandparents pear farm.. Those Korean pears my grandparents grew were the best pears in the world. They were huge and so juicy.. I never seen another pear come close to grandparent's pears

This was absolutely amazing. I used the apricot jam because I couldn't find the plum extract. So delicious and not overwhelming like some bulgogi I've had. Thank you!

I sent an IG message to Jacob about this, but want you to see it, too: Last night my Partner decides he wanted Bulgogi. Bulgogi on Labour Day evening. I remembered this video and tried it - my man was iffy about it, but when he saw how much Jacob enjoyed it he gave it a shot "Jake obviously loves it. THAT is a Bulgogi happy face. If Jake likes it that much, I want some!" An hour later, NO leftovers, and he practically licked the bowl clean LOL Thank you both so much for making these videos! I love Korean food anyhow, but my partner was stationed in South Korea with the Army for MANY years and was married to a Korean lady, so we eat a LOT of Korean dishes - and your videos have REALLY helped me learn. Thank you and Jacob for making our lives better! (have to get some of your shirts now!!!)

My husband and step-son love this recipe. My husband couldn't find any plum extract so we used the jelly and I think it is perfect! So delicious! I am so happy you make videos for your recipes because I keep losing my printed copy. Also your videos give me the confidence to try something new. Thank you for adding the ingredient list to your videos.

Made this the other night. Substituted Teriyaki for plum. Cut garlic in half; my preference. Very, very good. Used recipe again last night to marinate my beef for stir fry. Amazing! It’s a keeper.

I finally tried this! Substituted mirin with chinese cooking wine (but a little less) and the plum extract with apricot preserves and it was so good! The apricot gave it a little tang too. Highly recommend
