"You can't screw up something that you didn't know how to do right", wise words that got the tears running right away. I got my first dog less than 6 months ago and so many times I feel like I failed her so much during the first few months. Luckily I found Will and Tom eventually and since then I have been learning every day, thinking about becoming a trainer myself, spreading the 3 magic words down in Argentina. Such a huge inspiration. Thank you so much. Can't wait to be at the next seminar!

The problem with this type of avoidance training is that not everyone is assertive, or capable of inflicting “corrections” on their dog. It seems to me that if you are capable, you might not have these problems in the first place. Obviously depends on the dog. People should know that this style of training uses positive punishment in the form of collar pops, which a lot of seems to be edited out. It works by punishing every behavior except the correct one. This is dominance based, which requires a dominant personality and the use of aversives. That little dog chokes. Is that really necessary, or is it just the easy way to teach your dog? Do you use that type of punishment on your child? Collar pops? Bet it work’s phenomenally for stopping behavior.

I feel ridiculous, but I am a bit emotional over this video. I've been following you, and Will too, for a while now and this video, more than any others was so impactful. What I appreciate most is your no BS and no judgement presentation. Your delivery of information is honest, neutral but also direct and without ego. Thank you for sharing your training journey with us, that you for your humility, your accessibility and your devotion. I would give anything to attend a seminar (please come to DC). Thank you for all you do and please thank your team for all their hard work with this video as well. Much love from a former upstate NY'er, and also a serious hangry sufferer too ;)

It's so good to see that also Dutch trainers are starting to be more open minded about using tools. We are not allowed to use them, but the more people see that using these tools is not harming when used in the right way, that it's not the devil, maybe it will help take off the stigma that's on it. And maybe someday the NL will change its rules and allow to incorporate it into training our dogs when nessecary. After trying so many different things, I kept having trouble in reaching my dog, get the connection due to her fear and trauma. I watched/read so much about the e-collor and what it could do, that I personally made the decission some months ago to go against our rules and started training with the e-collor. There has been no day I regret it, it was the best decicion I've made to help my dog. Thank you fo helping me achieve this and spreading good vibes about training tools. Let's hope for the best in the future! Take care!

How f*ing lucky are we, that such a well produced, informative, potentially life altering video... is free to watch. To me, that is a testament to show why these videos are made. To help as many people as possible, not to get a paycheck. Tom and team, holy smokes. Love your content and more importantly, love your message to the world. No bad dogs. Each is different and with their own challenges, but there are tools and methods out there to help their companions (us humans) break through the interspecies communication barrier and encourage them to make safer and happier choices. And fortunately for all of us, there are people like Tom who take the time to train us, so we can help our dogs be at ease. You're truly an artist, as you said. I aspire to be able to connect people with their dogs, to show them how something so fundamental as communication, can alter the dogs response to things outside it's control. To give them the confidence to show their dog "I got this, don't worry" and revel with them in their success. As an aspiring, fledgling dog trainer, you've set the bar up into the hemisphere. F*ing incredible work as always, thank you for sharing it all with us.

You are helping me, here in Germany, with my dutch shepard. Nobody is here to help me. I went to the Dog Academy they wouldn't help because I got her with 5months and I am also the fifth owner and I will be her last I love her but it is not easy. So I went to the police Academy to get help and they said they couldnt help me... Then I had a private Trainer she was very good but not to much knowledge on Dutch Shepard, so I was alone again. I got angry why are you able to adopt a Dog and nobody can help. So I started on my own, educating myself with videos and books. Now I have her 13months and we are really progressing. I will not give up on her she is a beautiful soul. And I really swear give me one to two years and nobody will recognize her anymore. My family is all in❤ And the changes I see each day are wonderful. So I guess what I want to say is Thankyou for your online work❤❤❤❤ You are saving so many dogs worldwide, even just by watching your Videos so again Thankyou and God Bless You ❤️ Greetings from Germany

Helluva Documentary. Haven't seen something with this level of valence or production quality from another Dog Trainer. Superb.

The way Tom thinks outside the box and look at each animals as an individual and what is makes them tick. It's has been a wonderful experience watching the beauty of training with harmony and compassion. When training horses I uses many different training and a mixture of many tailored to each horse. I am unable to ride anymore so I was sort of got into training a friends dog and word of mouth have now opened me to more clients. Learning from Tom and the way he approaches each dog has been priceless! .

Quoting Just.Kidding. Rowling after her very questionable behavior in past years isn't great look. Love Harry Potter universe, I even have a tattoo because it impacted my life. But Rowling was pushed out of the fandom for a reason.

This is what talent meeting ambition looks like. You're clearly capable with dogs, and you're also willing to expand your reach, put in the work, improve the quality. This video isn't just about a talented man. This is a dream of a person so powerful it breaks through the confines of one's mind and touches everyone's hearts.

I wish you could come to Rhode Island! I have an extremely fearful Border Collie mix who has noise phobia and she's having fear/anxiety/aggression issues, she is bullying the new puppy who is having some issues as well with leash pulling and excessive barking and jumping (kelpie mix). I am the only one in the family who actually works them and works with them (to train them) and it's just turning into a really and situation with the other people here. I need help and cannot seem to find the right trainer here in RI. 😮‍💨😢

46:53 She says that she sends her dog to residentials and I've heard so many people say they'll send their dog to training classes but that's just what Tom is... He's a people trainer. You can't train a dog without knowing what You're doing. You can't send your dog away to learn things if you don't learn them as well. You also might get a dog back that was trained by someone else that will probably only listen to that person, not you. I love Tom 😊 I'm a huge fan and there's nothing I disagree with him on. I've been a dog lover my entire life and first trained my puppy at 14 years old until she was 12. Now I have a more challenging dog that I did not get as a puppy but I'm learning off of Tom. He's the reason I got a prong collar when the dog trainer I grew up on said they were abuse. I've also seen people use the prong collar incorrectly and it can be bad for the dog but again it's PEOPLE TRAINING how to use and work it all in the end. Sorry this comment is so long. ❤ I really hope to meet you one day. #TN

I loved what the woman at the end said, there's so many people in the world of dog training that you can learn from it's self limiting to shut yourself off completely from people who have at least SOME effective ways of changing dog behavior.

Came across your channel today, was looking for help,in dealing with our new rescue dog, a westie cross. 6byrs oldish, very badly treated, still emaciated but somehow has a beautiful gentle soul. Hes fine with our chorkie. But very intense re our cat. I'd say interested rather than aggresive, but is causing our cat to panic doing her best to avoid him. Trying to keep her in more than usual in hope she will relax. We hve the new dog on leash which helps cat to feel she wont be chased. That is what brought me to u. I am very impressed with your work, & your approach, no doubt a lot of research n learning n experience behind it I think. Brill that u lived amongst the wolves, no wonder u have so much understanding . Thank you for sharing it on your open channel. Really appreciate it . Hope to find a video on my issue. Live in Europe. BST wishes, Cheers.

I used to train bomb and narcotics dogs for a living before my current job. Considered training dogs for a living but don’t have the people skills to do it. You’re a beast man. Also, your dogtra collar is hands down the best tool I’ve ever used in any capacity. Constantly wearing your shirt in Chicago trying to spread the word!

watching all of this makes me wanna go out on a small walk and do some simple training with my doggo. I tend to advance our progress a lot, and I think it would be good to do something more basic with him. You're such an amazing trainer, and have helped my dog and I get so far! Thank you for all you do!!
