I have a couple of questions here. In the learning curve of GPS tech there were trucks being directed under too low bridges, random accidents caused by reliance on the tech. Go back to the birth of a search engine or Wikipedia and its only as good as the information that is input. The safety of info checking for remote or unsure waters is a great feature amongst many. The one thing that cannot be computed is human error, inexperience or ego. Plotting the course is great but does it compute to match the capacity of the vessel? Will the tech stall command of the course if unsafe? Many a captain has pushed through weather when the logic said not to. As captains, how much autonomy would you cede?

How about Unity as a boat name. Short, easy to understand in lots of languages, and has a sense of pride. Another few I was thinking about is, Majesty, as well as Luna.
@mebdeb150810 ай бұрын
"Cutting Edge" or any name emulating the high tech Furuno sailing experience. There are several terms/names along the line of showing / advertising how high tech your boat is. Take some time and come up with you're own tailored name that expresses your "top of the line" tech/amenities.

Can't believe I missed the live premiere for a friend's birthday picnic. Really need to reassess my priorities...Two things among all that dazzling functionality that stood out; the rain/fog-penetrating radar & the crowd-sourcing/PBG chart updating. Both obviously huge for safety as coastal areas, especially, become ever more heavily traveled by craft with command crew of varying abilities & experience. Interested to know how much will be available on your vid screens throughout the boat,too. Clients will be fascinated but you'll soon get sick of them peering over your shoulder in the pilothouse.
@holeywell10 ай бұрын
I had no idea about the system telling you about potential collisions. That’s a game changer especially at night time when you have no idea what’s in the water ahead. Plus the added about auto pilot detouring you around. Every boat needs this

Amazing kit, every question that popped up in my mind was almost instantaneously answered or shortly there after. One addition I would like is a voice controlled 'How do I" so if you have forgotten how to do something you can simply utter a question and a short video would play with a how to do it. As you have multiple screens you can have one ready for this as there is such a vast amount of possibilities on this system, and as your going to be using a lot of them from the charter prospective with not only your craft but the tender and guests needs especially at the start of your venture.

My pleasure, with AI and the advent of voice control today and the sheer complexity and knowing that it can take ages to absorb and all the information that is at hand takes ages to log it all in our brains, I know as I use a plethora of software and even updates can be tricky to get your head round them. If noisy maybe a 'How do I' button just in case and a list. But voice activation and help could speed things up.@@FurunoMarineElectronics

Fascinating information in this series of episodes! A question popped in my mind while I was seeing the part about the sonar transducers. Great tech, but 'loud'.. What is known about the effects (if any) on marine life from the sounding, 'noisy' vessels that spread out in all seas? Not to say of course that sonar tech is bad, but more on the line of thinking of 'be as good for the seas while at sea'.

Hello, I love your tours of the boats, you learn a lot about the subject and you enjoy it, so one thing that I want and that I have noticed that the vast majority of boats do not have, is that I would like a flat bridge on the boats They had their own independent bathroom on that floor, I say this because if they are ultimately going to afford such a luxury, why not do it? Great video and these guys are all dedicated to their product. The capabilities of todays equipment far surpass that of e.g. 10 years ago. There are a couple of things that I did not hear, but am very curious to learn. Reason is that I have experienced that myself and it made me buy new equipment. Was a costly affair. - Can you mix Furuno equipment with other brands of equipment ? E.g. we have Raymarine, but our security camera's (non Raymarine) cannot be displayed on our Raymarine equipment. Or can you mix Raymarine, Garmin, Simrad with Furuno ? - If a new piece of equipment is produced, can you enter that into your existing system ? E.g. we wanted a newer model plotter, but the radar we had (perfectly fine for what we use it for) was not compatible with the new plotter. So we had to buy a new radar as well. Also our existing depth meter was not compatible with the new system, so also that had to be exchanged. It would have been nice if we could just plug in a new plotter into the system and keep going. So curious if Furuno can do that ? - We have added a Thermal Imaging camera, but that one again is not compatible with Raymarine, so we needed an additional screen for that. - As for the charts, does Furuno charge you an arm and a leg each year for the charts or is it reasonable. For a charter yacht 1000 USD for charts per year is not that bad, but for the average boater each year 1000 USD for charts is over the top. Luckily Raymarine works with Navionics charts (Garmin), so we can get a new subscription for a reasonable price (still). Curious what Furuno does. - Is Furuno compatible with apps like Navily ? May sound strange, but Navily is a perfect app to get info on anchorages and unfortunately we cannot present the info on our Raymarine screens. We need an additional screen (not Raymarine) to be able to see that info. Would be so great if the plotter would be able to display the Navily info when you click on a bay. You will instantly see what others think of the anchorage, where the best place is, what to look out for, how busy it can be in a certain period etc. If Furuno can do that they certainly have an edge over everyone else and it is info that boaters would like to know before they make a decision to buy a certain brand. I know it has nothing to do with your Bering, but would be great if Furuno could react. 👍
@FurunoMarineElectronics10 ай бұрын
Depends on what you are looking to connect. For example, many sensors like heading, temperature, engine data, etc. can be transferred across the NMEA2000 network and you can display that data. Radar, Fish Finder, and chart data is proprietary for all of the manufacturers. Certain cameras, like thermal and security cameras can be displayed on most manufacturer's MFDs, you just need to make sure it is compatible before purchasing those 3rd party cameras. Hope that helps!
