The second generation Buick Riviera styling cycle begins right here. But why did Buick call itself “the tuned car” in 1966? And how did the hideaway headlamps work? And why does Queen Katie of Bernardston care so much? Watch the video and learn!

Wishing Uncle Steve a steady, speedy recovery as he nears 100K subscribers. I remember when I first heard about Steve through his "Junkyard Crawl" articles in Car Craft magazine in 2018. I also enjoyed the Junkyard Gold series on MotorTrend on Demand, but I prefer the KZbin Junkyard Crawls better. I am really disappointed that both Car Craft and Junkyard Gold are cancelled; with all due respect, MotorTrend can go eat shit.

I had gotten Road and Track and Car and Driver free for a year from some sort of promotion. I'm glad it was free because in reading most of the articles it's obvious that their average reader hasn't turned a wrench in decades and when they did, it consisted of putting air in a tire.

@@googleusergpYeah I never really cared for a lot of those big automotive magazine publications. I enjoyed looking through Car Craft's articles about the builds and Car Craft also had a funny cartoon comic strip called "Krass & Bernie" which I enjoyed looking at. Brought back a lot of memories. It makes me disappointed when companies make perfectly good magazines/shows kick the bucket.

@@steveosgood9182 A few weeks ago, Steve Magnante was missing in action and when he returned after his hiatus he announced that he was in the hospital, hence all the reruns. A week later, Steve is missing in action again probably back in the hospital and has resorted back to doing reruns, and Shane is most likely the person who is uploading them. I wish all the best for Steve and Shane.

I had a 66 Buick grand sport and someone ran into the front and i had a dog house for a 66 malibu and I was just messing around and we sat it on the Buick and it was almost perfect fitting, with about a hour of bodywork it looked like it came that way and it's still in my town running around 35 years later, i talked to the guy who owns it and told him I put it together and he thought someone just changed the grille until I showed him pictures of it when I was putting it together. He takes it to all the local car shows

If your 70 years old used muscle cars were dirt cheap during the gas crisis, and if you just wanted a car you could get one for $25 bucks. Small used car lots used to be everywhere with some cool stuff at all of them. Think about that for a while. Of course, now you would be really old. lol

Another day of hoping Mr. Magnante is getting on the mend. As stated last time: Katie the dog is reminding you to tell everyone that the bodies on these cars were made at the Fisher Body plant in Euclid, OH and then transported to Flint, MI for final assembly by Buick or to Lansing in the case of an Oldsmobile. The Fisher Euclid body plant was opened in 1921 at East 140th and Coit Road at 20001 Euclid Ave and operated until 1993, with boat maker Sea Ray contracting with the plant to make trim parts for boats for a time. We (barely) got the VIN, we win: 4 for Buick, 94 for Riviera, 87 for two door hardtop, 6 for 1966 model year, H for Flint, MI final assembly and the rest is the production sequence. The Flint, MI plant operated from 1904 to 1999 and was the Buick "home" plant. It was also called "Buick City" for a time. Lear Corporation operates a seat manufacturing facility on part of that site now. No tag, can't brag, but some can be figured out, no doubt: 66 for 1966 model year, EUC for Euclid, OH Fisher Body, 9487 for Riviera, 610 for Green interior trim, Z-Z for Riviera Silver Green lower and upper exterior paint, possible E for "E-Z Eye" tinted glass, all windows, X for power windows, 2K for air conditioning, 5Z for seat belts among other codes.

As many 66-70 Rivieras as there are still in existance, I've only seen a handful up close and in person. I am quite shocked to see that the 2nd gen carried on with (or went back to) the X-frame when B bodies up-graded to the new perimeter frame in 1965. That's just wierd. Has me wondering how long they went with that on the Riviera.

Steve shows the column auto shifter and says that it wouldn't have had the bucket seats. I wonder if maybe some were so equipped, because few of Camaro, Firebirds, Cutlass, maybe Skylarks were. The consoles would sometimes have the optional 8 track tape player and locking gloves boxes. Just wonder the story or answer to why this classic is there. Hope it gets saved. I remember in 1983 I seen a 1966 Toronado sitting in the back yard of my mom's cousin sunken in the ground just like this car. He said it had a problem, and it never got the care it truly deserved. He bought it new too. Probably parked when he bought the 1975 Cadillac sedan DeVille. Great video Steve. Hope you the best! Stay in if you have to.
