In case anyone is wondering, I once emailed the composer asking for the sheet music. He said this was completely improvised and there is no sheet music. Sorry you'll have to transcribe yourself it you want to play it!

I can only imagine the magic that occurred over the many years with that piano teacher that led to this day when he and she decided for him to sit in as a guest in her own band's gig that same night. What a great pianist she is. What a great student he is.

saddest thing is, because Phil lived around 10,000 years in repetitive days... when it finally becomes tomorrow, the rest of his life with Rita will go by the same sort of speed as one month for us.

Phil's piano teacher was there at the dinner-dance, proudly bragging on his playing abilities. Obviously, Phil had mastered the piano by then (maybe after hundreds of years of lessons). So, since he had become such an expert, why was he still taking lessons from his teacher, who probably couldn't play as well as he could?

+Lance Childs I believe it was an original composition for the movie, simply called Phil's Piano Solo. He uses a part of Rachmaninoff's Variations on a Theme of Paganini (18th) to segue between the two upbeat versions.

I managed to learn this song about 10 years ago by recording the audio of a VHS tape, slowing it down on the computer and figuring out the individual notes. Unfortunately for me, because it was a VHS tape, it ran a bit too fast so I learnt it in A flat instead of G!!! Arghh..I'm now re-learning in G which is MUCH easier..!
