This title race between these 3 clubs was extremely tense, if a goal is scored, EVERYTHING changes, like USG was in the ucl spot for most of the season but then Club Brugge scored a 103rd min goal to knock them down to Europa league VIA GOALS SCORED IN THE PLAYOFFS (genk scored 10, usg scored 8)

It doesn't work on goals scored. The first decider is the half points from rounding (which put Antwerp at an advantage over all 3 teams), but wouldn't have made any difference between Genk and USG, and the second decider is the finishing position in the regular season, which favoured Genk because Genk finished first in the regular season. USG could have had a +1 million goal difference and it wouldn't have changed anything

As a supporter of the 4th Champion's Playoffs club (Club Bruges) which have been having a longtime rivalry with Antwerp, this was a wild ride and a total clusterfuck of competing emotions, going from being behind and not really minding because that meant Union (which I have quite some sympathy for and had been rooting for since we no longer played a role) got the championship but we'd be in a losing scenario in the match itself, to turning that 1-0 down in the 85th into a 1-3 lead, which did also mean the title went to our rivals, to not even being mad about that, as Toby throughly deserves it and it's a scenario - and a winning equalizer - too good not to be instant football history. Like, friend or foe of Antwerp, this is etched in everyone's memory here in Belgium for decades. In all, I'm not ashamed to admit I'm a bit relieved that I could watch from a safe distance this season, I never would've survived this concslusion of the championship as a fan of either of the 3 clubs still in the running. All 3 clubs deserve praise for the seasons they played, and Toby's bronze statue at the Bosuil is already being cast by now, I presume.

What a last day for the Belgian league. These playoffs were of top quality. Not to mention that Bruges was not at its best, the same for the best atmosphere in Belgium the Standard Liege. The same goes for Anderlecht, the largest club in the country. In the following years, if all these teams are competitive, the championship could be very interesting

I would like to point out that, due to extremely poor planning on UEFA's part, USG have qualified for Europe by finishing 3rd but Genk aren't guaranteed. For finishing 3rd, USG enter the Europa League at the playoff stage, where if they lose, they will automatically enter the Conference League group stages. For finishing 2nd, Genk enter the Champions League second qualifying round. If they lose that, they will go to the Europa League 3rd qualifying round, where they will go to the Conference League playoff if they lose that. Obviously, if they lose that, then they will not qualify for Europe at all. If Genk win their first qualifying tie, which will be against either Servette or Panathinaikos, then they will qualify for at least the Europa League group stage and have the chance to qualify for the Champions League by winning 2 further ties. However, if they lose that tie, they will need to win 2 ties vs USG's 1 in order to qualify for the Europa League, and will need to win 1 tie instead vs USG's 0 to qualify for the Conference League. If they lose that UCL game, their UEL round 3 tie will be against either Slavia Prague or Olympiacos, which obviously then becomes a massive banana peel. Their high coefficient mean they shouldn't get a terrible UECL playoff draw should they end up there, but they shouldn't be in that position in the first place. I never realised this in the past 2 years, fortunately it hasn't messed anyone up so far (ie every team who has lost in the UCL main path Q2 has qualified for the UEL group stage), so it hasn't yet made a difference. Servette from Switzerland and Dnipro-1 from Ukraine also have the same issue, so at least 1 team will be messed up by it, and given Dnipro-1 and Servette are significantly weaker than Slavia Pragua and Olympiacos (and also for their UECL playoff as well if they end up there), that could cost them a lot more than it could cost Genk.

My suggestion to fix it is simple: have the Belgian and Swiss league's 3rd place teams go into the UEL 3rd round qualifying instead of the playoffs, and have the 2 losers from the UCL main path 2nd round qualifying go straight to the UEL playoffs instead of the 3rd round qualifying. Then the 2nd place teams will always be at least as high in the Europa League as the 3rd place teams for all leagues. Also, if you wanted a guaranteed UCL spot, your teams should play better. On paper imo, the Greek league is better than the Austrian, Scottish, Serbian, Ukrainian and Swiss leagues (in terms of the sum of the quality of all the teams, maybe individually they're not as good as say Shaktar or RB Salzburg, but the rest of the teams outside maybe the top 2 in most of the leagues I just named aren't very good), you shouldn't be down in 15th. Anyway, my point wasn't that it was or wasn't fair that Belgian teams don't have an automatic UCL spot, just that a team finishing 3rd shouldn't be at an advantage over a team finishing 2nd in the same league.

I am talking about who deserves to play. That's the way it was and the money was distributed much better amongst the leagues. While now you have 60+% of the teams in the Group Stage coming from 5 leagues. Also it feels pretentious to split the qualifiers into champions and non-champions, since there are champions of small leagues that would get easily beat my bigger leagues' non-champions. You should choose. Either it is based on championships won, or based on league quality. Shouldn't have both.
