Do you have a recommendation for temperature in a bucephalandra species-only aquarium? Cooler (22 C) or more near warm (28 C)? I've heard varying opinions on this.
@AnotherWorldTerraria
@AnotherWorldTerraria 5 жыл бұрын
@Mac F I don't know anything about growing them in aquaria, but I'd say any of those temperatures should be fine, as those are about what I grow them in under emersed conditions in my bins. In general, warmer temps should be OK, especially if submersed.

Hi Another World Terraria, your channel is excellent. What do you think is the best light for aquatic plants in emerged culture? natural light (without direct sun) or LED light from lamps? thank you🌱
@AnotherWorldTerraria
@AnotherWorldTerraria Жыл бұрын
Thank you. I've never used natural light to grow plants indoors so I can't comment on that. I use LED lights for everything. The quality and intensity of LED lights varies drastically across the range of products, so it's hard to say much about it. If you buy a good one which is bright and has the right spectrum, it can perform as well as natural light. Lighting is a very complex subject, but I hope this helps a little bit.

what is the brand of the micro sprayer you use in your videos?
@AnotherWorldTerraria
@AnotherWorldTerraria 2 жыл бұрын
I haven't watched this in a while but I assume you are referring to the pump sprayer with the wand? If so, it's Solo brand. I have two different models. one is a small like 1 gallon or less and an attached wand, the other is a few gallons larger one with a hose and wand. They are both good for different jobs but generally I use the larger one with hose wand.

Hi Matthew, After watching your whole series a few times I started my first own bin a couple of weeks ago. So far the bucephalandra a growing an out of curiosity I also added an Eriocaulon and a bit of Riccardia and Krabi moss. Despite the added springtails I notice sometimes some mold though but that usually disappears when I mist it a bit. But thing that annoyes me the most is that now blue algeas /cyanos are spreading in the wet soil 😑 Do you have any suggestions on this one? Thanks
@AnotherWorldTerraria
@AnotherWorldTerraria 5 жыл бұрын
Algae and cyanobacteria will definitely show up. I have it in some places too. I find it helps to keep the substrate deeper and the water level below the surface so it isn't wet up top. The lava rock topping helps, as long as it is above the water level. If the algae gets too thick, peel it off so it doesn't spread over the plants. Some people treat these things with hydrogen peroxide but I have not had a lot of luck with that.

Is it a good idea to use as water, some of your stable long running,cycled tank?

I can't say because I don't have aquariums so I cannot test that idea. But I think it would be OK, as long as you monitor the nutrient/fertilizer levels and water chemistry

Oh my, I did a set up similar to yours (without watching your videos) but my Althernathera Reineckii died in a matter of days and it may be due to the water (I used tap water because I had nothing else and I was leaving my house for a week and did not want to leave my plants in their 1-2-Grow! growing medium). Weirdly my Staurogyne Repens seem to thrive in the exact same container. Or it may be due to the light setting but I don't know if it's too high or too low. In general, does Staurogyne need more or less light than AR ?

I would say you could do an experiment. Try it on a few cheap / common plants in a separate bin. Give it at least a few months. If it works, you should be good to go. Personally, I wouldn't risk it due to all the pollution in the air.

Do you sell buce? I don't understand the point of this farm setup if you can't view the plants.
@AnotherWorldTerraria
@AnotherWorldTerraria 5 жыл бұрын
I don't usually sell plants. I am a plant addict, love plants, collect them, have too many. I grow them in the most efficient and economical ways that I can, which is what I'm showing here. I go around my collection and look at the plant while I'm taking care of them. I sometimes make display terrariums and then I would transfer some plants into that where it looks nice and can be viewed. But mostly, I'm just collecting and hoarding. 😂😎
