I LOVE training triceps guys. They are by far my strongest muscle group and one of my strongest isolation lift is the POWERBOMB! (seated dumbbell overhead extensions) - So because of this I've never had a hard time developing my triceps, especially the long head, because when my form starts to break down I notice right away and take action. If I'm not "feeling" my triceps working to the max during a lift, I immediately try to figure out why and correct my form. - In today's video I'm going over 4 of the most common exercises where form breakdown happens all too often due to "flared elbows" and I'm confident that once you learn from these tips you will be on the path toward maximizing your triceps growth! - If you missed the last video on *BICEPS TRAINING*, check it out right here! - kzbin.info/www/bejne/j4CqhY2XhM2Ei7s - GUARANTEED GAINS "FREE PROGRAM DOWNLOAD" - muscularstrength.com/guaranteed_gains_sign_up_FREE

Let's be clear. If you want to train the long head of the tricpes, you have to put exercises that put it in a stretched position and in a fully shortened one. A skullcrasher is one of my favourites but if you have the weight in a fixed position you will lose the opportunity to hit the long head. A much safer way to the OH tricep extension is with a band. By putting the arms in front of you is a much safer position for the shoulders, and you still hit the long head. And you have a athletic stance that is functional and safe.
@ScottHermanFitness4 жыл бұрын
I crush the 100lbs dumbbell for sets of 12 - 15 reps. There is no way a band will ever give me the overload I need my friend. - Just progress with the movement safely. Your shoulders will be fine. 🤗

Yep i’d like to see the difference between the machine pull downs and the resistance band variation and explained why, since i don’t have a machine at home but a big variation of resistance bands. All over the internet i see ppl arguing about it being great, even better than machines or just the opposite. Very confusing

Shoulder breakers got rid of 99% of my shoulder pain. Thanks for recommending this, Scott. I had should pain (bursitis) for decades but it got worse when I started lifting few years ago. I searched for solutions and asked trainers but none could help me until I saw a video where you recommended shoulder breakers. Thanks. You saved my shoulders and my workouts. :D This is an excellent video. My triceps are ...needing work so this is perfect. I smashed the like button.

The MUST-HAVE piece of equipment for keeping elbows from flaring is the Mark Bell BowTie. I have a slap tear in my left shoulder, which is common after 40. So instead of surgery, I bought a Swiss bar (aka, football bar) and the Bow Tie and I started doing my bench press and "close grip" (always shoulder width) tricep press exercises from the floor. I also put the Bow Tie on with my arms behind my back for dips. I'm now lifting heavier than ever before (335lbs) and absolutely no shoulder problems whatever. My Ortho took a picture of the Bow Tie to recommend it to his other patients. Regardless of the gear, however, I still make sure my shoulders are back for proper form. So I think anyone with shoulder problems should look into the Bow Tie. And, if you have a home gym, like I do, I also highly recommend the Swiss Bar with multiple grips.

Great vid and was well organized. Yeah if you could make the tricep push down video that would be great. Explain the different kind of grips you can use (rope, bar, and the v-bar) and how setting you’re feet away or close from the cable machine can effect the area (triceps) you’re targeting.

*Also. Explain for rope push downs for ex: Keep shoulders back, elbows in, and if you should turn the wrist out when coming down or at a 45 degree angle (if that last part makes sense)
