Hey Scott, I've been doing low, mid and high cable rows, it seems to be doing really well, a lot of my chest Excercises seen to only make the part of my chest right underneath my shoulder, and these seem to make me inner and outer chest feel worked and sore. I'm 54. In my early twenties, I tore my shoulder up pretty bad, and only many years later did I learn that I had a 50% rotator cuff tear and a labrum tear. Over the years I lost mobility despite exercises to help with mobility. Adding a "shoulder buddy", or it's called something similar, but it's a 2" in thick block that I strap to my chest, has made all the difference in the world. No more shoulder pain, as I'm not stretching the shoulder beyond its healthy capacity, and I'm benching more now than at any point in my life.
@blaydeesy20052 жыл бұрын
For whatever reason I can no longer use a bar for any chest presses, it absolutely kills my right elbow. I now use only dumbbells or the free weight hammer chest machines. I’ve been doing the Back-Biceps, Chest-Triceps, and then legs. I repeat this and occasionally take a day off here and there, but only after I’ve completed the three day cycle. I had a Total Knee Replacement a year ago, so I’ve really had to adjust my leg workouts. Not necessarily the exercises but the weight I use. I usually do cardio after upper body workouts, no cardio on leg day. I love your videos man, they’ve always been extremely helpful in my workouts.
@beastfromtheeast4223 жыл бұрын
I used to do like 10 different exercises for chest and triceps and thought the variety helped. But I’m older now and for about 6 years I’ve done nothing but flat bench with maybe chains or bands, incline dumbbells, dips, hammer strength bench, skull crushers, and pushdowns and my bench is 365 now. You don’t need muscle confusion or whatever you need consistency.

Always good to stick to the basics! honestly, all the advanced stuff is something to do for FUN. Yes, handstand push-ups have value and can get you some gains but you're going to be fine with OHP even you find it more boring. Excellent tip with using a band to loosen up your shoulders, I suggest everyone do something like that regularly since pretty much everybody gets stiff shoulders from driving. If you don't have a resistance band a towel works just fine too. Everyone benching should get real familiar with that shoulder stretch where you try and touch your fingers behind your back. Shoulder stretches feel good AND they help your mobility
