It is. I follow the directions on the Fert bottle. The foliar spray is something like half the concentration of the hydroponic solution. 👍

@michael.gagarin2 жыл бұрын
do you spray the ferts on the substrate or the plants? and when we use them in an submersed setup are they fish friendly ?
@AquariumPlantLab2 жыл бұрын
In my emersed plant propagation setups I spray hydroponic nutrients on the leaves of the plants. This can boost growth. Hydroponic nutrients are not fish safe though, so don’t use such ferts in an aquarium. What you want for an aquarium is a fish friendly planted aquarium fertilizer. They make products for that purpose. Just make sure to read the label carefully to ensure the fertilizer is aquarium safe. If you’re asking if the plants grown this way are safe to add to your aquariums then yes, they should be just fine. Most aquarium plants are grown commercially at farms with similar methods and ferts. Look up tropica or dennerle for example.
@michael.gagarin2 жыл бұрын
@@AquariumPlantLab thank you for this info. My question was say I use hydrophonic nutrient in an emersed setup and then i decide to harvest them to an submersed state. They do not affect my fish? I’m concerned since you mentioned they are not safe for aquariums.

Looking great. So with the fertilizer solution in the bottom on the hydroton, are you still spraying a fertilizer and water solution daily or just water now?
@AquariumPlantLab3 жыл бұрын
Java fern loves foliar spray so I still do spray them daily. Anubias on the other hand only likes foliar spray occasionally so I generally just mist the Anubias with water. Every few days they get foliar spray too though 👍

how frequently do you fertilize the plants?
@AquariumPlantLab3 жыл бұрын
Great question. So far I’ve basically setup the tubs and fertilize at that point. Then I don’t really replace the solution until I harvest and replant (about 2 months on average). However I use foliar fertilization every day. I would like to test the substrate solution through time to see if I should be replacing and at what frequency, just don’t have the data yet :)

No hydroton is too light for aquarium use, it tends to float or get disturbed easily when underwater.

@AquariumPlantLab3 жыл бұрын
If you want to use a desk lamp then you will want to use a 6500k CFL bulb or a 6500k LED screw in bulb. A standard house light will not likely provide the full spectrum and PAR values needed for plants. But a simple screw in bulb CFL or LED should do the trick :)

You are using a fertilizer for the growing of your emersed plants. But is normally not suitible for using with fish. But after harvasting your plants (emersed) and put them into the aquarium (submersed) are the plants then 100 % save to be used with fish and shrimps living in it? Because the plants and his leaves were treated with a fertilizer not to be used normally for fish/shrimps ☺️ Regards from Holland
