Growing cucumbers for the first time

In my ✨garden girl era! And my first time ever growing cucumbers! Everyday I read at least one comment that says, “but I don’t have a green thumb”. We all start somewhere. Pick one thing and practice with it. This year so far I’ve harvested strawberries, tomatoes, jalapeños, herbs, and now cucumbers. Have you been harvesting all the things this season? What are you growing?

We are growing sweet and feed corn (feed corn is literal chaos gardening because of the squirrels burying their food). We are also growing a couple varieties of tomatoes and some sweet peppers!💜

Used to dislike little tea sandwiches until someone told me to make them myself with my home grown veggies. WOW! Make your own loaf of whole grain bread, get a little whipped cream cheese and slice those cucumbers on it. So simple but it feels luxurious and special this way!

You’re not just onto something, you’re exactly right. Grocery store grown vegetables and fruits ALL have pesticides and preservatives. And most of them are genetically modified, making them taste less good in exchange for ease. Even the organic veggies and fruits have pesticides, since there’s a legal amount of pesticides you’re allowed to put on organic food and still cal it organic.

I have indoor and outdoor babies! (Plants) I have tomatoes and zucchini outdoors! Black ZZ, golden pothos, Swiss cheese, nerve plant, dwarf umbrella and more inside! 😊😊❤

I love houseplants, but my yearly garden is definitely my pride and joy. Theres a feeling of accomplishment like no other when you start to harvest! The taste is unbeatable too, nothing like home grown. The birds have been getting to my squash this year and it’s driving me crazy😩 not sure what to do. Your cucumbers look ahhmazing 🫶

Try using a dollar tree laundry bag as a net. I currently have them over my strawberry container and blueberry bush because the birds were eating more fruits than me!!

Growing your own food is the best. The last time I had an outdoor garden I ate salads on the daily and through out the day. It was the best tasting salad I’ve ever had. Lol❤

Yay! So happy for you, gardening feeds the soul too! I just picked my first cucumber yesterday! An australian breed that can be trellised, its called Richmond Green Apple. HIGHLY recommend, they are compact, sweet and you can grow them anywhere 😊

I started a container garden this year after getting my first succulents 2 years ago! I'm growing tomatoes and jalapenos/serranos/habaneros, a Cajun Bell pepper oh and leeks and basil! I'm zone 9b so I'm planning on adding more for my fall garden too!

Just some tips, if the cucumbers are seedy, just pick them earlier and when they are smaller. With cucumbers, the earlier the better. If they ever taste bitter, water them more.

Our national dessert is fresh cucumber with honey. It's so refreshing, sweet and simply delicious! I've just picked my first cucumber of the season, that I grow in a pot on the deck. So excited! 😊

In my humble opinion you made them grow too much. In my farm we don't want them to get too big because when they do they lose water and the seeds get too big and sometimes they become bitter. Love your vids❤
