@@TONYAwiththeflowers I did have one question, though: I'm looking to buy some ranunculus corms (fleur farm for the win!}, but everyone seems to ship them in the fall. I don't have a hoop house to overwinter them in, so I want to start them in the spring--can i store the dormant corms overwinter somehow? Google is not being very helpful. Thanks. --jamie

@slightlyburntpopcorn696 I've never stored them over winter. I would be worried about them drying out or molding, especially the more expensive types. If you're in the US, the "Wholesale for Small Scale Growers" Facebook group is a good option. There were definitely corms on offer last spring. So sorry that I couldn't be of more help. Good luck! 🌱🌱🌱

Hi Tonya, thank you for such informative video. I am in zone 8A, north Georgia and tried to grow these for last two seasons without success. Now I know that I started them way too late in the season! Im going to try planting in the fall this year. Thank you for the video.

The open tray you planted the corms in: Did it have drainage holes or no? And if not, you just are trying to keep moderately moist without water collecting in the bottom I assume.
@TONYAwiththeflowers
@TONYAwiththeflowers 4 ай бұрын
Yes, the trays have a mesh. I often use recycled paper in the bottom to keep the potting soil from falling through. Hope that helps! Happy gardening! 🌱🌱🌱

You just convinced me to NEVER EVER grow ranunculus!! Why the Heck would anyone go through such a NIGHTMARE every single year! And after all the hard work if aphids, thrips, and all the other insects don't kill them, you have to pray to God the temperature doesn't dip down to winter temps of zero or below, in the winter! And if it does dip below zero, once again, all of your time, money, effort, and hardwork, is for naught! I am a gardner, and a huge plant, tree, shrub, and flower lover, and I think ranunculus are one of the most beautiful flowers. But I had no idea they were such a nightmare to grow! And who in the world has that much time, not to mention, money, labor, energy, worry, and effort, to invest in re-growing something every year that you cannot even EAT! Especially when there are so many other beautiful flowers that are not such pain in the a** prima donnas to grow! And worse yet, even if they survive the bugs and the winter temps, you have to replant them every single year. But the prettiest ranunculus are patented, and you cannot regrow the patented flowers! Make it make sense~just thinking about it makes my head and heart ache! Surely, there has to be an easier, better~ way, to grow these gorgeous flowers?!

I love ranunculus; they are beautiful flowers. I love seeing the varieties that you plant. Are you going to do any updates on your house? I have been waiting for that. I can't wait to see what you grow this year.

I love that group! I've been able to order some really nice plants. If you haven't already, you can add your contact information through the Google document under the "featured" section at the top of the page. After that, you can start ordering through the regular posts. The invoices are sent via email, just before the stock begins to ship. Hope that helps! Happy gardening!

I love the look of ranunculus! Do you know how they would do in northern California 9b. It gets so hot and dry, not sure if they need a cold period to bloom.

They turn out great. You have to plant them in fall because it gets too hot too fast in spring so you may or may not get blooms. They are perennial here and you don't have to protect them. They bloom in early spring. They are one of my favorite flowers to grow. I'm also in zone 9b Northern California. Good luck.

I've tried growing them for 3 now. I grow them outside since I don't have a tunnel. I give up. Last year I had some succes but they are too susceptible to water.this year I lost half of them growing up in the trays, and the other half I lost in the field due to rainfall and the deer who ate the rest.
