Growing FIRECRACKER CHILI PEPPER Time-Lapse

This variety of the Pequin chili pepper was supposed to be multicolored but they just went straight from green to red. But it grew and made fruit, so i'm happy with the result :)
I had the grow light a bit too close in the beginning that probably caused the curly leaves, you can actually see the change in lighting when i moved it at day 48. But after that it started to look much better.

My grandfather used to grow chiltepin peppers, a very similar strain of bird pepper. They were like jalapeños the size of peas! He couldn’t have salty foods because of a heart condition and so he ate spicy foods instead and he ended up getting me into them too! Sadly he’s no longer with us, but this video made me think of him. Thank you.

Its amazing to see the movement of the leaves as the plant grows taller. Its almost like a synchronized dance when leaves scattered all over the plant move together. There has to be meaning to those bigger movements, like a signaling of the next growth phase. Surly there have been some scientific studies done on this. Time lapse really brings all that unnoticed movement to life! : )

Wow so many fruits and it grew so dense, just beautiful. All my efforts to grow Chilis at home failed unfortunately, because I have no direct sunlight and no place for plant lights. It'll have to wait until I move somewhere where I have more space

Great work ... thanks! Takes 5 months to fruit. No wonder peppers are a part of the culture of the Southwest and other hot spots of the world, and not so much the Northeast. But they're mostly perennials, so if potted you can take 'em inside to overwinter by a window for next season.

My father grew peppers that looked like that once. Hottest things ever. 2 peppers in about 2 gallons of chili made it inedible for anyone who couldn’t handle hot foods. I was in pain. I believe his was a cross pollination accident though.
