Came across this video after coming back after three days away and finding my lavender house plant in exactly the same condition. Had watered it before going away but found soil had dried out on return. Gave the plant some water, even though I thought it was probably dead and heh presto, revived beautifully just as yours did.

I have mine inside during these cold times in fall. I keep my windows open 24/7 except once or twice when it got to 20 something degrees. Anyway my lavender was germinated from seed and planted in a cut out 32oz gatorade bottle. W/ drainage holes and potting soil.. And its growing like a weed. I only have 1 little desk lamp on it on a timer and its really low maintenance On the other hand my sage is just kinda chilling and not growing at all. You can leave it out all the time unless it's cold. If you want to keep it indoors it will need at least 8 hrs direct sunlight a day. :)

I bought an English lavender plant for indoor growing. Do you have any tips for this varity?
@DonnaJoshi2 жыл бұрын
Put near a window that gets at least 3-4 hours of bright direct sunlight per day and grow in well draining soil. Water once the top inch of soil dries out, fertilize twice per year and provide low humidity and moderate temperatures. Hope this helps. :)

I’m so confused about the pruning because I like the flowers but you’re meant to prune it in spring??

Prune right after the first flowering and again in late August after the last flush has faded. This promotes more growth.

I saw and heard they say keep the seeds in fridge for 2 weeks before growing them, i wanna know how did u do?
@AdamTillontheWeb4 жыл бұрын

I have bought a lavender today. I don't know how to take care of it Your video is very informative.thanks for your guidance. But I live in very hot climate how Could I place it in the scorching sun
@DonnaJoshi5 жыл бұрын
Check your zone chart for growing zones. U can Google it. If u think it will be too hot consider keeping it indoors with bright light. Also, u could place it outside in a shaded area. If its sold in your area u can also consult with your local nursery. Water thoroughly spring through fall, allowing the soil to dry out slightly between waterings.

It can be grown indoors in pots. Just make sure it gets plenty of light. Most lavender cultivars are all hardy to zone 5 some to zone 4 with a good heavy mulch applied over winter. You can also prepare the area where you wanna put your lavender with extra sand/perlite/gravel etc to add in drainage or even French drains. It’s doable. On my way to pain dr yesterday I walked by these massive nearly 4 foot tall by 4 foot wide mounds of lavender & was absolutely gobsmacked at both the smell & the beauty. I spent 20 minutes rummaging around in my bag cursing myself for not having any scissors or secateurs on me. lol. I guarantee I will never leave my house without them again. Lol. It was about a 1/4” mile stretch of lavender & plantings & it was just sensational. I’d have never seen it except I got off at the wrong bus stop. Lol. Now I’m trying to get back there to get cuttings to propagate myself some plants. lol. I’ll ask permission of course as they have plenty of plants. I hope you will try it. I love mine. I have some in the ground both dwarf and regular size & 3 in pots. I was on here trying to find out how to collect their seeds, but I know propagating is faster, easier, & will be an identical plant. Lol. Good luck!
