I had a big sweet tart tree that the trunk snapped in half during hurricane Ian. Wish I would’ve pruned it a few days before the storm.

I noticed you mentioned your honey kiss and lil gem were loaded. I have a two year old honey kiss (no flowers), and I'm planning on top working an alphonso with a lil gem, so I'd love to see what those trees of yours look like. Can you share on an upcoming video?

I've got a Honey Kiss that I planted a year ago and it flowered this year pretty heavily for such a small tree (it's about 2.5 to 3 feet tall). It set a lot of fruit initially. But most of the fruit have aborted and now there are only 5 fruit left hanging. For me, that's ok because it's a small tree and I'd rather it focus on development rather than holding fruit. I'm guessing it might hold 2 of them till maturity. But I'd be ok if they all dropped and just wait till next year when the tree can handle holding its fruit. I've also got a Lil Gem I planted in the yard earlier this year when I noticed it was starting to push flower spikes while still in the pot. Just like Honey Kiss (and the reason I have both varieties), it flowered heavily and set a lot of fruit. It's a bit bigger (maybe 4 foot) and it's still holding about 12 fruit. I have a 3 year old Lemon Meringue (PPK) and it has never flowered yet. So I feel your pain regarding having a tree that didn't even bother to push out any flowers this year. All my tree git hit with powdery mildew pretty bad this year. I sprayed copper, it helped, but didn't help enough.

My land is in Jamaica. I’d need a special certificate from the government to bring in plants. Would like to try a few of those varieties of fruit you guts have a bring a few to Jamaica 🇯🇲 with me. Keep growing Paul. 👊🏾🙏🏾

I have mangoes ready to pick on my Blackie tree that is from Jamaica, was loaded this year after a pretty heavy prune last season. I did get a lot of fruit drop from the major wind we have been having. I live in a neighborhood off Sawgrass Expressway and I think I get a lot of wind in my neighborhood. My 25 foot East Indian tree only has about 10 Mango on it due to a heavy prune and fruit drop

What is the reason for incomplete bloom ? Alex hit it on the head with that statement. I’m in the fl keys and my Julie dropped a lot and my sugarloaf had very small pinnacles!!!

Mild winter. More consistent cool temperatures are more likely to trigger a full bloom on mango trees but we rarely get more than 10 consecutive days where the low drops below 60F anymore.

Paul, I grew up in north Florida, where we can’t really grow much tropical fruits, but I will be moving to south Florida soon, and hope to grow a backyard orchard. I’d like to have a similar amount of trees as what you have. How many acres do you have ?
