Cool video! And interesting to see what the experience was like in international school. I'm a black New Yorker but moved to Geneva when I was 5, moved back to New York when I was 14. This was in the 90's. I went to regular public schools (a lot of them). Kids were curious and I got some racist kids saying stupid things but generally it was great, I was automatically "cool" because I was black. I've returned to Geneva as an adult and I must say I was a bit shocked to see the slightly different attitudes. I would get asked where in Africa I'm from, and there was some slight hostility. Sad.

Do people generally get married at younger ages like in their 20s? Here, in NYC, people get married older, like up to their 30s and 40s.

Hello ladies thanks for your friendly video....I went to the International School in Geneva and am originally from New York...I have lived here for many years and although I am missing something (being white) it seems to me that Switzerland is one of the least racist countries on the European continent..one sees inter racial couple all over the place....I think that money is more of a criteria on which one can be judged...have you noticed that around Balexert and Avanchet seems to have a high proportion of black people and I wonder why....any ideas? I have also noticed that demographics of Geneva have changed a lot in recent years and one sees more black people from modest backgrounds...I suppose from north Africa but I am not sure.

I am Swiss, speaking Swiss German, “High German” French, english and some Italian. I lived in Geneva for a while and loved it. But it seems, that, when ever I listen to people on the Internet talking about Switzerland, there is soooo much “different” about my country and sooo many things, that “should be different”, that I am asking myself, why are all these people coming and living in Switzerland????? WE are happy the way we live. The more I read about my country, the more I find, that mostly Americans seem the need to change Switzerland.

Hi Nana! Thank you for the delightful upload - it was wonderful listening to your experiences in Geneva. I plan on working with an international school in Switzerland in coming up with effective ways of tackling racism (including prevention at primary sch level) in school. Since your experience at CDL was a positive one, I was wondering if you could share with me what you think CDL or ECOLINT did correctly in ensuring that you never felt marginalized? We will of course reach out to CDL and other schools directly but I feel it would be more beneficial to hear from someone like you. Hope this is not too much trouble. Stay blessed!:-)

It is nice to see you and so many other foreigners felt nice and welcome in Switzerland and enjoying it so much, taking opportunities. I am am a Swiss, married with a Gambian and we live in Zürich. Me myselve don't have any issues with racism ofcourse. My husband works in two jobs and he says he doesen't feel racism. Black people are maybe more cathering together, but thats normal I think. Gambia was like that too. I was there several time.I love Gambia and the natives too much and still thinking of moving to Gambia with him later. NOW, whats happening NOW??: A hugh bunch of African Americans who want to suddenly move to Africa now, lets say, as "retourners to their homeland", are now vlogging around in KZbin and promoting Africa to their black community in America. BUT: AFRICA ONLY FOR BLACK PEOPLE, not even mixed... Commenters in their vloggs just name us whites collectively "evil devils, supressors, enemies" and else.... (Imagine opposite, whites doing that 😱) They are promoting only the worst about the west, about their suffering and getting sick "under the suppressor" as blacks in America and Europa, as they say. To tell the truth, what I read there and HOW they answer whites; I DIDEN'T personally experience a WORSE racism than that. They express their racism, hate snd toxic mindset openly and without shame in KZbin. They promote complete division of races and don't accept even mixed couples! , They want a Continent without any whites! Here we, white and black people promote unity and in Africa this kind of Diaspora (NOTthe natives!) promotes separation and division??? They want to build up hotels and communities only for blacks, buy only from blacks etc. and best for them, seeing no white there at all. If locals are defending whites, as they have white wifes, friends or tourist who helped them, they are called them sleeping, ignorants and "brainwashed" by whites. So, they drag even conflict between locals and african Americans. In plus some natives feel, those AA feel superiour to the natives, talking to them like that, not better than they want to promote, we whites are feeling superiour. I can understand that some AAs are traumatized by what they experience in Anerica. But please, NOT every black person is maltrated and suffering by whites in the West, as we would see in many exemples! (thats why I found this vlogg, looking for positive stuff, than only the negative. There is MUCH MORE positivity, but not everybody records it, specially not the happy ones! 😄). If we have racism here, we talk about it and white journslists publish in in TV! Our police doesent beat nobody without the other diden't start the fight! THIS racism really worries me a lot, because first it is disgusting snd backwards and secondly they are dragging a very negative attitude and mindset to those peaceful westafrican countries. They point out only the bad from whites to black people and slavery topics. Bad and violence happens between the black community in America AND Africa too. For me, I even don't want to compare such! I recognize this is a very dangerous trend. They don't want to tell and see the fact, that maaaany black people enjoy and BENEFIT from and in Europa aswell (in America I don't know, think yes??). If they want to come and just float their favourite african countries with hate and racism, practice their Panafricanism and chase all the whites out, guess what would be the theoretic, logic consequences??? Me, I LOVE DIVERSITY, as long everybody comes with respect, and Switzerland is one of the most human, tolerant, respectful countries, and Gambia is very respectful and friendly to everyone too. But as I discovered those disrespectful and ugly speaches of this sort of african Americsns moving to peaceful Gambia, Ghana etc., I would appreciate very much, if the diaspora and African American people who don't share and experienc their mindset could argument and speak up against THIS racism aswell. They will have to listen to you more, than to a whites, as they see us anyway ALL as their "evil enemy and suppresor" and the natives as "brainwashed". Sorry for mentioning, but this is very current and important aswel,, and if we speak about what concerns all the immigrants and foreigners here, where we are slready very OPEN, peasceful and tolerant, no violence etc, ...This concerns me too and we have to speak about this radical, racist movement (against whites) aswell. It affects me and one dsy maybe all of us!

Congolese women has a good joke about dating in Switzerland: "with African men first it's hot, because they approach women easily , but than it becomes cold, with Swiss men it's the opposite, because they are shy but than...".Out of it you're a very cool young woman, but you should get out of this typical American autism about the "swirl" thing, I mean I had a black American girlfriend, and even I was "clear for landing" when we first met, I had to come through a kind of "chromatic autism" that I met many times in US as a "dirty white redskin". Maybe you could make a trip to the Narragansett reservation at Rhode Island and learn from them.
