I have had a project to plant Zoysia on football fields to help reduce the number of head to turf concussions.. I have started 3 fields. I use a golf green plugger and transplant 4 inch diameter plug at a time. It is a slow process but my yard is beautiful and very thick cant wait to get more of the fields planted. I am located in Kings Island Ohio.

Good luck with the zoysia, I’m killing mine out this fall. It’s hard to keep weeds out and the spray is very very expensive. However I’m in northwest nc

I have no weeds in my yard. Even the clover has been eliminated. I do not use and weed control at all.

You’re probably not getting warm enough up there for the turf to really get thick to choke out the weeds. You should give a Kentucky blue grass a shot

I bought my Ventrac for the same reasons. One to maintain my own property (2 acres) and two to work my side hustle business (landscape/field mowing/property maintenance). I would have loved to see what you used to level the sand. Was it a homemade drag or a designed unit?

Good, what is the size Sand?
@timothymiddleton66512 жыл бұрын
Medium. Mason sand. Depending on the existing soil properties, climate, and grass type, there will always be some perfect match sweet spot grain size. But generally any medium size clean sand works well. There are pros and cons for grain types like drainage, adhesion, and layering. I’ve done it with Zoysia, Bermuda, and St Ag. What you put in after for nutrients, carbon, microbiology and stuff matter the most. Good luck!
@timothymiddleton66512 жыл бұрын
Also, it’s not just about the size, shape matters some to. Smooth or rounded grains shift and are more prone to divoting, but drains well.
