2022 marked the 50-year anniversary of the passing of Title IX, a critical moment in American history that prevented federally-funded programs from discriminating on the basis of sex, opening up competitive sports for girls and women. Along with the National Senior Games Association, Growing Bolder assembled a panel of female athletes - representing ‘the lost generation’ not allowed to participate in high school and collegiate sports, but are now seizing the opportunity to compete and achieve in masters sports. The panel is headlined by Kathrine Switzer, the first woman to register for and run the Boston Marathon.
