Oh come on! Who can forget a good old needle juniper, I started my Journey with one of those... Great tips! Apparently these grow in tropical places too, I've seen them in hedges nearby!

Wow that's a pretty tree. I really like the demonstrations over time, because then we learn how the tree reacts. This kind of education I lack, especially with conifers. My little juniper is doing so much better since I followed the pruning video you did a while back. If you feel the spirit move, could you do a video on holly trees? I have one that I'm clueless about. I collected her because she already looks pretty good do to being so chopped up in the ground, and she already is growing new buds. I'd love to collect an American Holly that is in the woods, but would rather learn how to do it right first, instead of my standard dig and hope.
@GrowingBonsai8 күн бұрын
thx so much. Challenge is.. I do not have, nor do I personally like, holly. So I doubt a video will come from mee. I just do not have experience with them, sorry

Great tree and very informative video, thanks. What is the ink you used to shade the lime sulphur?

just a black ink I got from a paperstore!

@@GrowingBonsai ah, OK, thanks. Thinking about it I guess as the wood is dead the type of ink is not as important as the colour 🙂

Great information to use on my own Needle Juniper! What time of year is best for re-potting these trees? Thanks in advance.

as soon as growth is visible in early spring. Usually right after broadleaf deciduous!

Hey Jelle, Love the videos. Do you ever pinch these? I’ve got a procumbens nana which i presume can be treated similarly based purely on the foliage (😂) which i’ve only recently acquired and have been pinching; as yet i have no idea whether successfully or otherwise 🤷🏻♂️. (I know you apparently shouldn’t pinch scale junipers)

I never do. Firm believer that trees need to be allowed to grow, and thus pruned

Not long after he'd donated his famous needle juniper forest ("Goshen") to the National Arboretum, John Naka was asked during a demo why he'd done that; everybody expecting a tearjerking story about how meaningful it was to him, blah, blah, blah. But that wouldn't be good old John Naka. Instead, he blurted "Oh, man! I was so sick of maintaining that prickly thing! Good riddance!"...and went back to whacking away at the demo tree he was working on, cackling maniacally. Good times!
