As an indian, I respect the jf17, especially the block3. With aesa and uprated flight controls. It has solid aerodynamic capabilities, the lers and wings look really similar to the f/a 18. The drawback is the rd93 engine which is a real pile of steam. Even the mig 29 have similar engine issues. Hope the Indian navy picks up the f/a18 block 3 that Boeing is offering. If a Mig 21 can shoot down a F 16 in a dog fight it's not surprising to see JF 17 being lucky twice. The real deal is a BVR fight and this junk fighter is nothing more than a sitting duck in BVR fight. It's radar is a useless and missiles are joke.

This demonstration is SO COOL. It's actually what I'd expect from modern jet combat, its not even a knife fight in a phone booth. Its more like two John Wicks dual wielding SMGs in a phone booth. It's so fast and unpredictable and really a situation you'd want to avoid at all cost in real life.

OK SO, SCIENCE TIME! The missile at 15:09 is not over correcting, you can watch the controls unlock and the initial control inputs are made when the missile has ~0.51Mach on it, in order for the Pnav to get enough lead for a collision course on a plane at that range going ~0.50Mach the missile will have to take a course that is near parallel as the delta-V is so small. As the motor continues to burn delta-V increases rapidly and the missile issues a command back the other way at ~0.80Mach to compensate for the changing inputs in the Pnav equation. At ~0.92Mach we lose the TRT and G telemetry on the missile for some reason but you can see the missile continues it's turn back into the target as it accelerates all the way to impact. With these high aspect Rmin shots, the numbers going into the Pnav equation are changing so fast, and the missile is losing mass so rapidly that the guidance outputs (and the resulting angular changes being fed back into the equation) can start to overwhelm the control system--which has its own input lag and command speed limitations, resulting in amraam shots that look like the one that hit you "corkscrewing." This is where i tip my hat to Deka and ED for some superb missile modelling. We bitch and moan, moan and bitch, but this stuff is really impressive when you get down to the math of the sim.

Doing rate-fight thing on the deck is a non-option with an HMD/IRIS-T opponent. You either get him first or you die. First turn. No rematches on next turn anymore. Which sort of makes the whole "pop-up" group/merge thing kind of hilarious. As it won't happen in reality. :)

@@subhojeet8879 If you want to learn to fly, then you must start with propeller engine aircraft like I-16. And you will only need basic tools, which are cheap. If you google "topgun joystick" in Amazon, you will see. I remember I got one for my nephew for about $60.

@Rajiv Sharma As much as i am awed with what pakistan did with that Jf-17, i wouldnt count down tejas. A modern fighter jet is more than a carbon-titanium structure, you need a good radar, jammers and self protection suite to carry out any mission. They do well for what pakistan requires, i guess.

jf17 is like some products in China (like dji xiaomi one plus vivo huawei), it is cheap but the technology is new enough, and it is usable. It is not the most advanced but it is indeed a very affordable choice.

it's not realistic man, the hornet's been nerfed for this dogfight, the JF17 started operational duties in 2007, by that time the hornet had HMDs and aim 9x. for entertaining puposes it's ok, the only "realistic" aspect of this loadout is the added weight and drag.

it is part of the "special sauce" yes. But all tail controlled missiles are extremely agile, when you US made the 120C, we consciously gave up some maneuverability to fix carriage issues with the F-22, we also gained some range out of it.

I like the Jf17 personally. If only the gun wasn't a pile of crap it would be great. Imagine if this thing had HMCS it would be really devastating in a dogfight. The vertical scan takes forever to lock something up but that is true to life as the hornet will instantly lock up a target if you move over it and that's just not going to be the case it should take a second or two for the lock.

The gun is helpful for cleaning up ground targets, and I’ve been getting better with it in dogfights. Though I more eyeball the lead for the gun myself since the lead indicator for it is trash as you say. I have noticed there is an HMD button on your panel so I assume the real Jeff has the capability to use some kind of hmcs.

Just because you can pull 1-3G's more doesnt mean you can fly smaller circles or that you can turn faster arround your nose. To reach those max G's, you must fly very fast wich will increase the radius of your turn circle and decrese the turnrate of your nose.

Wow, that AIM-120 update must have been really extensive. I remember taking a couple 3+ mile shots at guys who were inside the canopy bow of the F-15, and the 120C simply wasn't able to pull the radius to get them. But now, it looks like it will aggressively pull some extreme AoA to make an intercept; relying on thrust for directional control, more than lift from the little fins like it uses for longer shots. That's very impressive!

That erratic turning of the AMRAAM is cool to look at but that's actually a sign of bad controller tuning. In terms of control theory it got into an oscillating state. You can see the oscillation increase in amplitude. So this was a highly unstable state where it overreacted on the first turn and subsequently the feedback loop multiplied the input value into higher and higher output values to compensate. The system was unable to dampen out the oscillation.

It was bad for dogfighting befor deka upgraded the FM and added more thrust to the engine. But in my opinion it still a bad dogfighter. Low TWR, no HMD, a DOWNPOINTED GUN with the worst gunsight. Keep in mind that Growling Sidewinder is a Flying ace and that the most arent that good like him.
