GrowlTap (TapIt Cap) Modification and Review

My review of the growl tap and my modification adding a pressure gauge to use it as a means of force carbonating small experimental batches of home brew beer.
It is very inexpensive and I would recommend it however the co2 dispenser is very cheap and will likely start leaking on you quickly. Unfortunately the dispenser is not serviceable where you can change the seals. If the dispenser was serviceable I would give this a 5 out of 5 stars it is a great little device to have in the homebrew world.

The screw top growlers are hit or miss for me with holding pressure. But I have had some hold pressure for a few months even. Great information!

Would the little nitro carts for whip cream cans work in th growltap? Nitro stouts are delicious.

is it the same size 1/8 FPT on the liquid out side? Incase you wanted to replace the barbed fitting with something like a ball lock disconnect? (same on the gas side)

from the top it is 1/8"M-NPT to 1/8" M-NPT----1/4" tee with 1/8" reducers except for gauge side---finally a 1/8"M-NPT to 1/8" male flare. from there the co2 has a flare female connector. Hope this makes sense.

Yeah that makes sense, I'm wondering on the liquid side, not the CO2 side, is it a threaded fitting just like the gas side?

+limitedz ahh yes. the liquid is the same 1/8th size, but with a barb fitting. you are referring to the liquid output side, not the liquid input right?

+xboxer1985 I just meant the liquid side of the cap, not necessarily the barbed side of the fitting. you answered my question though, I think this will work great for my 6 liter bottles which have the same thread as a growler. 3 liter bottles from the dollar store also have the same thread.

+limitedz sweet! glad to help! the liquid input line you may need to extend if the 6 liter is deeper than a standard growler. this thing is great! great way to dispense the beer!!
