Great guide. FYI, you don't need to copy cheat engine to the directory of the game you're playing. You can run it from the directory steam installs it to.

@@GrownUpGamingGUG I really appreciate your quick response. I finally found a table for RE7 (DX12) that works. It really comes down to how the table is made. You have to grab several and try them until you find one that works. I love using CE on Windows so I really wanted it to work. Fling trainers would load but I could never activate the cheats on the window even in Desktop mode. I gave up.

Yes, I'm not sure how the tables work, so getting more of them is better. Maybe some tables were created for a different game version and when the game got updated the memory address changed so it doesn't work.

Unfortunately it’s not the typical mod. It’s another like a separate program that acts like the cheat engine (have to open it whilst playing the game) 😣 I’ve tried installing it in Lutris but being such a noob in Linux, I have no idea if I’m doing anything right at all.

For cheats I just use wemod. Or you can try aurora, cheat engine or stand alone trainers.

Run the game with proton and it will create the prefix folder. Install the cheat engine onto the games prefix folder.

I've tried this numerous times on my OLED 3.5.17, Tinker Launch, Custom Command, Fork Custom Command, Dev mode enabled, but when I try to play The Mobius Machine all that comes up is Cheat Engine and I don't have the ability to switch between processes. This happens to me, too. It's kind of important for Cheat Engine which makes this otherwise excellent tutorial all a bit pointless... Would love if a solution could be found. Also, when enabling speed hacks, the game instantly closes.

I'm no expert, I think trainers are easy to use but cheat engine has more possibilities if you know how to use it. Also, trainers basically come from tools like cheat engine.

So I followed your exact steps, doing it for a non-steam game that I added to steam, have the 4 notifications up for steam tinker launch, but the program itself never comes up (where you have to click game menu). I am using cheat engine 7.5 (maybe that is reason and I need to use an older one instead, not sure). The game has a launcher, I tried it on that first and it did not work, so I tried it on the actual game exe and it still did not open. Everything up to that point worked fine and the game itself works fine when using a newer version of proton to launch it. Any input on what the issue could be? Maybe its the fact that its a non-steam game and one I torrented?

I tied cheat engine to the game I wanted to use it for, selected the game process and opened the cheat table (there is a signature thing I have to hit yes on and then the table loads). My issue is that when I go to click on the cheats to enable them, they don't register. In other words the red x does not show.... No idea what could be causing this as it's the last piece of the puzzle that won't work.
