And then I have like 4 different SD cards for games organized in a way that makes sense for me. One card for steam games, one for non steam (Epic, Blizzard, GoG, ect, and one just for emulation.) organizing like like this made it easier for me to keep track of what games i have on hand.

Thank you so much for being a fan! To my knowledge, there isn't a way to keep older images and the logic for that is in the closed-source part of Steam. If you want to have something around you can revert to, though, I'd recommend taking a full disk image with something like Clonezilla and then just re-flashing it if necessary.

@cryobyte337 ай бұрын
I actually just took the time to figure out how to reset the sudo password relatively easily so I can make a video on it: 1. Make sure to have a keyboard attached 2. While the Steam Deck is powered off, hold the 3 dot button and turn on the Deck. 3. The recovery menu will appear. On your keyboard highlight CURRENT (OS Boot Menu) then press the enter key. 4. The GRUB menu will appear. Highlight SteamOS then press "e" on your keyboard to edit the boot options. 5. Press the down key on the keyboard until steamenv_boot is highlighted. Press "end" to go to the end of the line. 6. Enter "- init=/bin/bash" without the quotes 7. Hold control and press x. 8. When it's booted to another command line run the command "mount -n -o rw,remount /" 9. Run the command "passwd deck" 10. Enter new password, press enter, retype the new password and press enter again. 11. Run "reboot now" That should be all you need to reset it without knowing the old password, I hope this helps!

Glad to see you are posting more frequently Kyle. Could you by chance create an updated video on how to overclock the steam deck. I tried flashing the 116 bios to replace the current 119. While it did work and allowed me to change the tdp after turning it back on it force updated back 119 and restoring all settings back to default. Now the only way I get similar performance is by using fsr 3 mods. My goal was to have both an overclock and the mods working together. I have considered other overclocking methods that are software based. After 2 hours of trying to get Pacman to work now I just don’t know what to install. Currently I’m working on installing the latest amd drivers. I just need to figure out how to force steam os to use the new drivers
@cryobyte337 ай бұрын
Let me address this one at a time: 1. Thank you for watching and commenting! 2. I've had an updated OC/UV video in the works for months, but every time it's finished Valve releases a new update and invalidates half of the video. If it stays stable for more than a few weeks now, I'd expect a video out soon-ish 🙂 3. To be honest, teh simplest way of using the latest drivers are to just use the Main branch in SteamOS. I had the later drivers running without update kernel and everything and it caused nothing but issues. Microstutters, crashing, the works. Sticking to Main with the Steam client on Stable or Beta seems to be the right move for running upstream. Hopefully this helps, thank you again!

2:00 Alternative for Tip 7: Use any Controller with Gyro. For best control, I recommend using the Steam Desktop Controller Profile to set your Gyro to control the mouse, set the Gyro Activation to your personal most comfortable shoulder button (so it only moves the cursor when you press the button, otherwise it can get pretty messy), put the 3 mouse button on the remaining triggers, and then put any other keyboard and mouse bindings (or even shortcuts) on the remainder of the buttons. You could even have one button that changes to another layer, that turns it back into controller mode, to easily control some desktop games without needing a whole separate mapping for them.

I think I'm just inept because even after 50+ hours of gyro gaming I still hated it 😂 For normal people, good tip though! Thanks for watching!

@@cryobyte33Fair. As someone who grew up with Nintendo, I've been using and adapting to it for ages. To me, Gyro feels even more natural and "secure to use" than any actual mouse (despite me also using those since early childhood), but not everyone's like me. Even on the normal Steam Deck, while I love the trackpads, I use Gyro to control the mouse when using mouse-heavy appliations like Blender.

The new update 3.5.17 on Steam Deck finally adds the ability to dim the status LED. I think it’s a huge deal for those of us with a translucent shell. One thing to note; on my OLED LE, if I go below 10 notches on the dial, none on the LEDs work. If I keep it at 10, only white LED works. Anything higher & color LEDs activate as well (when they’re supposed to)
