Awesome! I make my own stock for soups...etc and would have never thought to keep the bones for bone meal. OMG...what a great way to repurpose. Thanks Mr. Brown

HELLO Gardening today, thanks. Since you make your own stock, you are halfway there. After the bones have boiled, just dehydrate and start crushing. You know, I never really thought about what bone meal actually was. Crushed up bones and all the bone meal I threw away, just to buy it. You are absolutely right about a great way to repurpose it. Are you thinking about trying it?

@gardeningtoday2683 Ha ha, I will be, too. Those turkey bones will make a lot more meal than a chicken bone.

I’m going to try that tomorrow I already make my own oyster power similar way I feed it to my worms as part of there diet and also for my plants
@GrowSomethingTasty

HELLO Dnawormcastings, cool. Let me know how it turns out for you. The oyster power, I bet, makes some great fertilizer. Especially after the worms break down. Do you have a lot of worms, and how do you keep them from dying in the Bins during the hot summer?

HEY Kimberely!!!! We think alike. I also do this with my egg shells. Do you believe it takes the egg shell powder 10 years to break down before you get any calcium?

+1 sub… can I please ask a question? I have loads and loads of thick beef bones. If I place all of these into a pressure cooker for three hours minimum will it boil off the skin and meat etc, and turn the thick bones to brittleness after just 3 hours? Wow 👍👍
@GrowSomethingTasty
@GrowSomethingTasty 2 ай бұрын
HEY, Jennifer!!! Thanks for subscribing!!! If they are thick bones I probably would leave them in longer, maybe 6 or 7 hours. I say that because my kids had ribs, and I put them in with the chicken bones. The ribs were still hard. After the pressure cooker bake the bones or dehydrate them for a long while, to soften them up for grinding.
