This product is a masterpiece of Industrial Design and Engineering. I was dubious about getting it (It's expensive if you live outside the US) but today morning I got my fingers trapped by a garage door. Took it as a message from future myself: DON'T WAIT, BUY THE FREAKING GRRIPER IMMEDIATELY! I bought two of them.

I am always critical of the technical presentation of these shop gadgets but this fellow is spot on with this demonstration. No anxiou stuttering, false starts, and repeated words. He knows the tool inside and out and can walk and chew gum (and run the gadget) at the same time. Very well done. Those anticipating doing their own technical KZbin Videos need to sit at this fellow's knee and learn a few things.

Thank you for the extra O-ring! One fell off my table and skittered away never to be seen again. And in general, the o-rings are a very thoughtful idea and speak to the quality of the product and the work that went into the design.

I was able to use my Microjig Avanced for the first time today on my table saw after watching this awesome video, and the level of control compared to using a push stick is night and day, anxiety levels dropped dramatically, too. Fantastic product, I'm ordering a second for longer pieces. And thanks for the video, super helpful on multiple levels and the host did a great job. Just got a router table, too, so seeing this in use on that made my day.

As others have said this is an awesome video and a great help to setting up the Grr-ripper and its accessories, far better than for me, than trying to follow instructions in a printed manual. The practical demonstrations create an appreciation of the Grr-ripper and its widespread potential use in the workshop. For me these explanations go a long way in justifying the cost of the Grr-ripper as you can begin to see how to use it to make work easier and safer across a number of woodwork machines. So many thanks to MicroJig for providing a brilliant educational video which I trust is a reflection of high quality customer service I can expect.

After contemplating the pros and cons of this product, I thought I'd get one and give it a shot. I bought the 200 model for $79. Get it out and start to put it together and %#$@^#% wrong screws in the blue bag. I looked at some reviews (wish I did that first) and apparently getting wrong/missing/broken parts in the box is a normal occurrence with this product. So, to answer Jeff Fisher's question of "Why can't it come assembled", I believe I have the answer.

Awesome video. As someone just starting out, I wanted to watch as many videos on table saw safety as possible and the kickback vids started making me think twice about getting one. Seems to me this would be a no brainer and Im deff going to pick up a couple. Again, as someone just starting out, I have no idea if these are overpriced or not. After all I spent on my tools, to spend a couple hundred on protecting my fingers from getting chopped off doesn't seem bad. Going to start out with just two of them and hopefully the more I learn, I can find use for the accessories. Would like to make sure I need them first.

Just got the GR-200 with the 1/8th add-on. Used it tonight to cut down 1 inch rough stock to 3/4. Really easy and even more importantly extremely safe with the Grripper. In the short time I’ve been woodworking, I’ve come across useful tools, jigs and techniques to improve quality and safety. This is easily the best tool I’ve bought that improves both. Fantastic invention. I also got the match fit dovetail clamps and will be building a tabletop with dovetail tracks. Another great invention that will make a number of things easier to do. In my opinion, this is one of the most innovative companies in woodworking today.

@Microjig
@Microjig 2 жыл бұрын
Robert, cutting long narrow strips is what the GRR-RIPPER excels at. And once you get used to using it, the process becomes much less stressful and more enjoyable. The o-rings do require a bit if fuss during assembly, but they keep the hardware on the parts even when not being used, so they repay the effort every time you use your GRR-RIPPERs.

Here is a video I did on resawing at the table saw. This shows the GR-200 which has the Stabilizing Plate: kzbin.info/www/bejne/sJi0fp2ahNx8p6s As far as irregular shaped stock, if the stock is flat but not rectangular, the GRR-RIPPER can ride the fence to provide a straight edge. This is for smaller parts. Larger parts, like trying to straight cut a live edge plank needs a different approach. Feel free to call our office and we can discuss your needs directly. Gripper does not work with my Ryobi Table Saw as for example, when blade is up at 1" the Riving Knife height is 2 1/2" so the blade would cut right through the Gripper. Any thought before I return it ?
@Microjig
@Microjig Жыл бұрын
Yes, adjust the height of your riving knife. Your Riving knife should have an adjustment position to set it in line with or just below the top of your blade. This is so you can make a groove cut that does not cut all the way through (like a shoulder cut) without removing the riving knife. Please feel free to call us and we can talk you through your options.

Very good demo and well made product. I recently bought 2 and still learning best techniques. I'm finding it a little more difficult to accurately control longer stock than what I expected. Even while using kiln dried poplar without knots. Long half inch or less cuts 12" in length or more do not easily stay tight against the fence using the leap frog technique. Too much side pressure causes flex in fence on the average table saw. This isn't the microjig fault but unless you own a commercial saw you may have to clamp your fence down. Definitely a thumbs up for small stock.
@kadmow
@kadmow 5 жыл бұрын
Ben, if you are flexing the fence it is either: pretty poorly designed (typical for consumer products), or being improperly used.. - back-it-up with some steel angle ( or aluminium angle if easier) to stop it flexing... ( that is a metalwork job for you)

@Ed Haskell I don't know why the experts are not answering your good question. I'm basically a "newbie ," but I imagine you would just remove the fence , use the Gripper on one side of the work piece and your own hand ( or a second Gripper) on the other side.

Nice products but $60-$80 for a bunch of molded plastic parts can’t you assemble these as finished units and put them in a box so the consumer doesn’t have to do it?

Funniest instructional video ever 👍 can't wait to put mine together and start using it but waiting for Carbatec to get back to me about it. One of the legs has a chunk of the green grip material missing from one of the corners and I want to know if it's still safe to use. I sent them a photo and product is meant to be new.

I have a pair of GRR-RIPPERS, and also a Shark-Guard blade guard. The GRR-RIPPERS are cute, although without much gripping power, but I feel like dust collection and my lungs, are more of an immediate need, so they don't get used much. I wish there was a feature where you could use the G-R's along with a blade guard. Maybe something that would ride on my Biesmeyer fence with a piece that would go down the blade-side of the fence and push the wood.

What went through your head to stop sponsoring Steve Ramsey? Also I bought a micro jig and almost never never use it, basically a push stick is fine!
@Microjig
@Microjig Жыл бұрын
It's too bad you almost never use your GRR-RIPPER. It provides cleaner cuts than your push stick can. When used properly on a well set up saw, your rip cuts will show zero tool marks. And it is simply safer. You should be using it on your saw, router table, bandsaw and jointer as well. Anywhere a bit or blade wants to bite you.

@koolkid1234ism Жыл бұрын
@@Microjig it doesnt even grip well though. THats the thing, theres no heel so its all downward pressure which is dangerous, a simple push stick has a heel for forward pressure, making it better than your overpriced push stick

@@koolkid1234ism We do offer a heel accessory, but generally, I don't use it, the friction grip is more than sufficient for what I do. If yours does not hold your stock properly, I will suggest you clean them well, and if that does not help, email me at ralph@microjig.com and we will get the problem solved. I like it but I'm a little confused . . . this is something to help with safety, right? But, I am supposed to remove a key safety item on the table saw, my blade guard, which also forms part of my sawdust collection system to keep particulates out of the air, which keeps my lungs safe long term?
@Microjig
@Microjig 2 жыл бұрын
MrMeraby, we will NEVER tell you to not use your blade guard if you feel safe using it. You are in control of your own safety in the shop. The fact is that many blade guards are not well designed and it can be argued that they are less safe than not using one. The GRR-RIPPER works as a moving blade guard, staying between your hands and the blades or bits that want to hurt you. We have a 20+ year long record of protecting woodworkers that speaks for itself. Also, even using your blade guard for most cuts, there are times you cannot; Dado cuts, groove cuts and even thin rips where the blade guard cannot fit between the blade and rip fence. In these cases, the GRR-RIPPER becomes even more valuable. Finally, the GRR-RIPPER works with other tools in your shop. It is awesome at the router table and works very well on the jointer and the band saw.

I have two of these (including the Advanced model). While the GRR-RIPPER works great on small pieces like in the video, it has limited capabilities on long/large pieces of wood. Also, the green gripping material slips as soon as it gets any saw dust on it. You will probably need to clean it after every couple of cuts . . . Great concept though.

Regarding the band saw demonstration, isn't this continuous pressure while guiding the cut going to bind the blade? I like the device in general and just received one as a gift. But I have to question this application of it as shown.

Do we need to remove blade guide, riving knife and anti kickback plates to use this Jio? All videos show them removed. Manual does not state one way or the other
@nickyork8901

Clearly he is not using the blade guard, as this is partly for situations where you actually can't use it. Never remove the riving knife, that would be dumb. I don't know what you mean by blade guide, but he is using the fence and the Gripper is resting against it the whole time. Super safe for cutting small pieces.

I wish you had shown edge jointing. I know you talked about it, but only face jointing was shown. I just got two grippers today and I want to edge joint eight 7' long 2x4s. Ofc, an outfeed table would be super helpful, but mainly, I need to keep the pressure on the wood so it's a clean pass
