Another explanation is that the pilot class uniforms are for player recognition in PvP, meaning their abilities and gear are not tied to their outfit. An example of this is Jack Cooper as he has a Grapple Pilot uniform and helmet yet can only cloak and not grapple.

Stim pilots were people in tf1, and pretty much all you need is a glove/gauntlet to use phase as Jack Cooper only had a little glove & Wraith has a much more heavily designed glove. I know Jack didn't necessarily jump into the void, but passing through it between two set of time. I think the simulacrums & such are mostly designed to be able to do what people do. Like how in Destiny Exo's have a hefty lore behind what they are and go through physically/mentally, but when the lore meets the gameplay & writing, they're generally the same as their more 'human' counterparts. Especially when it comes to the player models sharing the same exact rigs & animations lolol. Apex is THE game to very much flesh out simulacrums (and the likes of robots), like how Rev & Ash are.

Apex lore brings more life to the titanfall universe as a whole, but in turn then end up retconning titanfall Lore, mainly nerfing pilots and undermining them as a whole as contrary to popular opinion from most apex fans pilots aren't just "highly skilled / trained grunts with jump kits". Pilots aren't demi gods they can be killed even by a mere grunt and by legends even though legends arent exactly on the same level as a pilot as they participate in a blood sport rather than actually being battle-tested in a full out war. However i have a problem with the way respawn portrayed this, they didnt even bother to show bangalore in a pilot gauntlet or a simulation doing some form of pilot training, but she gets bodied by a militia pilot in the midst of battle on a warzone surrounded by smoke and chaos and survives and wakes up on a wrecked craft injured but suddenly encounters an imc pilot she who is injured and her brother who is injured somehow managed to restrain and finish off a fully geared experienced pilot, this is something I have a big problem with. I'd also like to note that I've been following the titanfall games since the 1st day release of titanfall 1, even until the 1st day release of apex.

Simple answer. Toon craft who is a lead animator in respawn who worked on tf2 and apex said this. The reason why they got a holo pilot was mainly because of a deadline for work and the model for the pilot bang beat with her brother is made by the cinematic team and they simply don’t have the time to get the model back into the game because those are done by a different team. In the Titanfall 2 opening intro it shows a pilot using the pulse knife (data knife which all pilots carry) cloak, grappling hook and even holo. Unless it’s just to show what they all can do I don’t think it’s necessarily impossible for a holo pilot to go invisible. I just don’t think normal pilots will be stimming or phasing like the robot pilots.

I blame poor writing. This is on par with GW writing with 40k. Throughout the Titanfall games pilots are elevated to legendary status, like how Navy SEALs are, because they're incredibly well trained, they get the best equipment, and they're an extremely important force to have on a battlefield with their ability to play both recon, rifleman, and armor support. Grunts in both the first and second Titanfall games show relief and excitement that they managed to defeat a pilot because of how difficult it is. Then they wanted to try and elevate one of the Legends in a spinoff game by saying she killed a pilot, something you could assumed was with luck. Then they made this, which pissed of Titanfall fans because this not only looks stupid, but makes no sense with what we're told about pilot training. Then we just got the animation of what had happened, which was even more infuriating to Titanfall fans because of how we went from a pilot being a terrifying presence, to two grunts killing an experienced pilot who had a smart pistol. I shouldn't need to go into why the smart pistol part is bullshit.

It's not bad writing, it actually fits in really well with the story of pilots. Kuben Blisk himself said that most of the pilots get cocky and a lot of times aren't being a pilot because they are ignorant. The dev of both of the games even confirms this. The same dev that made the animation even said that this was to show how pilots underestimate themselves.

Every pilots has cloak, grapple, holo, stim, and other stuff like amp wall, respawn gave each class different builds to make it easier to discern witch pilot class is witch. It's entirely for game play reasons, a pulse blade pilot can grapple, a stim pilot can phase shift, and a holo pilot can cloak.

only simulacrum pilots can use phase shift and stim interchangebly due to being machines stims are kinda drugs to soldiers in the frontier as you can see in octane hence why stim and phase shift pilots are machines because they arent affected by side effects
