GRSE! Atlanta 20mar12 The Incident Part 4: Gotdamn McFarland

This is part 4. I was a security officer until April 10th; the company, oddly enough, based out of metro Detroit. McFarland was giving me problems. He gave me a lot of grief in the beginning. The police were not correct on this, but you have to play ball with the police sometimes. I had to find a work around for a lot of things. I became the on site property manager to work around the road blocks from APD. You do not have to let a vendor's employee on if you don't want to. Terry nor Fred were employee's anyway, they were problems. I didn't want them to go to jail, I wanted them to go away. The property manager would not terminate the agreement either, made the job of running and securing the Metro Mall very difficult. Because of the decisions made early on by the property manager and APD, you have all these videos, you should thank them.

The owners of the property, and the security guard by extension since he is acting in their place in their absence (ie- what he's paid for), have the right to ban someone from their property. Also, threatening someone with bodily harm is a CRIME. Refusing to leave after being ordered to by the property owners/security guard is called trespassing. Do I need to list more reasons? Oh, and his moronic comparision to an apartment is beyond pathetic. The owners of an apartment complex absolutely can ban your guests and even kick your ass out for committing crimes and even just being a general pain in their ass.

The things is I just doubt he is right here. The guard is tasked with ensuring the safety of customer's and employees at the store. Whilst the kiosk owner may have been happy with the guy staying there, the altercation occurred in a few areas aside from his kiosk. Not to mention the guard and the police have to think about safety of the other vendor's as well as the effect on business the dudes behaviour was having. This one guy's wishes should not overrule the wishes of the Mall he has rented space in. I'm willing to bet his contract also says that we (the landlord) reserve the right to remove anybody from the premises if we see fit.

The people who rent a space within the mall as a whole rely on and fall under the same discretion of the owner/security contract. Having been a mall security guard myself I can say with a fair degree of certainty that black cop is correct. If the booth is leased to the vendor then the vendor can have whom ever he wants in the booth, but there is a way around that. If the property owner, or authorized property representative (in my case security), were to file a suspension notice or trespassing notice (document name dependent upon state and department) then the unwanted party would not be permitted to enter any part of the mall property that is not that booth. With the booth only being accessable by means of the mall walkway, the unwanted party would not be able to access the booth's safe zone w/o trespassing on the mall first.

I used to be a security officer. 1st post was at a front desk office building; 3 years. Best best. Worked 2nd shift and sometimes 3rd shift. The guy I was with on shift brought his Xbox and everything. (No one was in the building after hours except cleaning crew, literally no threat and no one ever showed up at night) 2nd post was at a hospital. The worst!!! Stayed there for like 3 years as well. Ppl like this was all over there. Bunch of rapid codes, ppl acting up in the ER, patients always yelling and throwing stuff and ghetto ass ppl just showing up to act up. Hated it so much! Took the opportunity to leave that post at a 3rd post at another office building for 1 last year. Was good, but it was 2nd shift. Got tired of working afternoon and nights.... now I’m livin my best life at my new job. Not a guard, no confrontation, no drama. Would never want to be a guard again!
