That was better than watching The Matrix Reloaded. If everyone plays meta, imagine you have poor vision and you start collecting leaves that are all the same size. You'll no longer be able to associate leaves by their size, you'll start looking for other differences, like their distinct shape, their color, how hard or soft they feel. I noticed in that game, u really payed attention to geography, and used blood mage's flame strike well. U also focused on killing necros and using priests. All the races have a counter to Unholy frenzy, u just kinda have to be prepared to spam dispell.

To the philosophical question i was going with, going back to the leaf metaphor, whats the point of noticing all those new differences in the leaves. If you just pick the most reliable strat, is there a point in tailoring it ever so slightly, or is it better to be cavalier and pick new strats and exploring little diffrences in that as well.

@@JohnDoe-jw7kq Until the last 2 or 3 patches, the first seemed to be what *almost* everybody did, except for a few weird and wonderful games, and a larger metagame evolution that occurred at a geological pace (for instance, Orcs finally figuring out how to beat Mass Talons during the Patch Desert), and a noticeable bit of evolution that occurred when some new maps were introduced (although unfortunately most of them didn't catch on). After the last few patches, we have started seeing more of the latter.

Why do they usually give up when one of their heroes die? Is it that difficult to rebuild?

He lost basically everything. Is not difficult to rebuild, but they are usually very behind. In this situration, Pitlord is the main damage, and after PL die, there is nothing he can do. The following will be DK and Lich run back to base with a TP, and Grubby will destroy all the expansion before PL comes back, or kill lich and DK.

I was thinking the same thing, but also instead of going Paladin > Blood Mage > Alchemist, go Paladin Mountain King > Blood Mage (this actually used to be done in a noticeable minority of Human pro games, with Mountain King and Paladin in either order). Then you can Banish + Storm Bolt + Holy Light + Gryphon focus fire for maximum nuking. A possible compromise would be to have Alchemist instead of Mountain King after all, but go Acid Bomb instead of Chemical Rage -- use Acid Bomb on Banished units. But Storm Bolt is also good to stop the Pit Lord from attacking and let you get some distance on him, and if the other Undead units follow you, then the Pit Lord has to wade through them before starting to attack again. Also, if you put Bash as the other skill on the Mountain King and have him attack the Pit Lord, it will slow down the Pit Lord's attack. Thunder Clap would do it too and would affect multiple units, but the Blood Mage might have trouble keeping both Mountain King and Paladin supplied with enough Mana and still having enough time to Banish when needed.

Oh. I've always thought META = Most Efficient Tool Available. Usually from FPS games such as a certain gun that fairs well in almost any situation. But the concept is the same.

Think of it like Hearthstone, META is the tier 1 decks you're likely to play against 90% of the time during an expansion. So in warcraft 3 it would be like, playing vs KOTG / mass tier 1 / fast expand.

You can Spell Steal Frenzy with Brekersl but u gotta do it manually and confirm

That's my understanding too, but I haven't seen anybody do it. Now Lich's Frost Armor, on the other hand, I thought was really not stealable (although I think you can steal Creeps' Frost Armor).

I think spell steal is passive, control magic is manual

@@requiem1123 It is, but Frenzy has a 0 value for steal. The life drain can be an undesirable side effect that's why you have to steal it manually.

theres one thing wrong with the way he defines a meta and thats that the meta often ISNT the thing with the "highest win percentage" its more accurate the describe it as the "highest win percentage with no hard counter" to make a simple analogy imagine there are 4 strategies, a b c d (they are all obviously 50/50 vs themselves) a beats b and c80% of the time, but loses to d 80% of the time b beats c and d 65% of the time c and d go even in terms of strict "win percentages" a wins as it has 230/170 total win/loss compared to bs 200/200 cs 155/245 and ds 215/185 from the numbers a SHOULD be the meta, but it wouldnt be, the end resulting meta will be FAAAAAAR more likely to be a mix of b and d because a is hard countered by d, if a ever becomes populer so will d, and as a result a's winrate will plummet, if d is common b will be as well as it does the best vs d but because b loses so hard to a b cant really ever take over becayse it will be held in check by the chance of anyone ever playing a the end result would be a "meta" which is maybe 40/40/20 d/b/a

I think you never played warcraft 3 in your life because even if you just played undead you would know it works on other units due to banshees taking over enemy units plus most neutrel hired units and heroes are not undead so it would screw over undead players.
