@@UlfMTG Agree. He has a wealth of knowledge from playing professionally, but his style of coaching has much room for improvement. It was essentially backseat gaming with Grubbs as the puppet. Which to be fair it is what Grubby asks for in his coaching sessions with other players so far afaik? But he was too meticulous about it for my taste. I'm 36 mins in and he's trying to get Grub to do advanced wave manipulation min maxing without explaining beforehand what's coming. For example when s4 tries to get Grub to slow build and stack the wave with the siege creep in order to apply pressure to the tower using glyph, he's articulating everything that needs to be done, but didn't explain beforehand what the general plan was so Grub's just kind of confused as to what the overarching goal is. Makes for some muddied learning imo. Still it's very interesting content and I know everyone's just rolling with the punches so it's cool at the end of the day.

@@Freakattaker the next day on twitch, grubby and s4 actually reviewed the replay. s4 explained the purpose of a lot of the things he was asking grubby to do. It was great to see them go back to it to really understand properly.

I played Dota for over 10 years (since dota 1) and even if I don't play anymore, I always watch it on streams. I learned and enyojed a lot during this video. Amazing characters, interactions and coaching. Thank you and s4 for being such good sports and rekindling the dota 2 scene for newcomers. The learning curve is really rough in the early stages and this helps a lot!

Never played Dota2 before but started watching some videos cause of you Grubby. I'm a OG fanboy after watching True Insight for TI8 and TI9. I kind of want to try it out just so I can understand the game enough to follow the pro scene now. Surprised at how "advanced" the tips were in this video. I understood nothing but my main takeaway is that the game is actually quite deep. You mentioned that in WC3, being active on the map IS macro as opposed to worker/military production and infra management in SC2, etc. That sounds way more true in here with how you need to last hit and kite effectively on a super optimized farming path. S4 saying he looks at the timer 50% of the time and the minimap 40% of the time is an interesting take on just how min maxed the farming routes are.

Though I wasn't a fan of the early game coaching as Grubb's mental stack was overloaded from certain parts of laning to the point of not being able to handle the specific plans and tips s4 had for him (idk if they had a section where Grubbs got debriefed on the general laning plans), the mid late game coaching was PERFECT. Overall an awesome video and would love to see more pro players coaching Grubb. Superrrrr fun to watch all of these so far. The Dendi, Ceb, and now s4, it's the content I never knew I needed!

I know most of the stuff s4 told Grubby since I played Dota for 10+ years. You learn all this automatically eventually if you start to analyze your own playstyle, watch competitive Dota and try to improve overall to reach a higher MMR. It all just becomes a habit. Even though I didn't play Dota for 4 to 5 years myself I played with some beginner work colleagues recently. I didn't know the new meta at all but I still easily crushed them in lane with my micro game and coordinated my team full of noobs and gave them objectives :D But it is amazing to see how a coach can improve a beginner so dramatically quickly.
