I absolutely agree about the cruelty of forcing shop assistants to listen to Christmas music from October through January. It was so bad that when they accidentally played a Wurzels song, my heart nearly grew three sizes. The Wurzels, for god's sake. I Am A Cider Drinker. That's what we call rock bottom.

I adore Christmas. I love buying presents, wrapping them whilst drinking heavily, of course. My mum also makes an amazing Christmas dinner, so I always enjoy that. No turkey though, we have pork and lamb. I don't know why people eat turkey if they don't enjoy it. I do love these Grumpy Christmas programmes though, because I can see the humour in it all and can understand why a lot of people don't enjoy it.

Unscrupulous merchants and greedy middlemen have made the Season of Christmas what it is today in the minds of most people. This is not to mention the horrible and incessant cacophony that passes for Christmas Carols being blasted in every shop you go into, and which have nothing at all to do with the true meaning of the holyday! It's not for nothing then that according to statistics, more suicides occur during this time of year, by far, than any other!

In my family because Christmas is such a blur, we find that the season has passed before we've done half of the things we wanted to do. Some of my family don't really get into it, but me I just celebrate it when I get a chance to relax and be around people I want to be around. We don't often buy surprises that others have to pretend to appreciate. Most gifts become clutter. I figure that Jesus was already the most thoughtful gift, and he may have been born in the spring. We also realize on New Years Day that we forgot to send Christmas Cards. I am from the USA in case anyone wonders. I never had a truly British Christmas.

Will James I would sooner hear "Feliz Navidad" by Jose Feliciano on a continuous loop for 72 hours straight then endure more than one play of either "Merry Christmas Everyone" or _anything_ by Cliff Richard. In fact, I'd treat it as a game: if I walk into a shop that's playing either Noddy's screaming or Cliff's crooning, the poor sod who has to endure that for a shift gets a free Vince Guaraldi CD. Christmas calls for Charlie Brown music.

@barbaravick56345 жыл бұрын
Richard Trout I was so horribly disappointed when my mother's boss, a very wealthy Anglophile had a Christmas "pudding" with hard sauce sent to us for Christmas along with quite a few other goodies. It was horrible, taste, texture simply everything about it. Now, a British friend claimed it to be exquisite. He was either mad or utterly without a sense of taste. The ten pounds of pistachios and the twenty pound wheel of baby Swiss and other goodies were splendid. But God that 'cake' was awful. We told him we loved it though, just far less emphasis on it than all his other wonderful gifts. What a great fellow he was.

My favourite programme this. Required watching for every Xmas phobics out there including myself. Christmas starts so early now September in fact, that it has become ridiculous.The entire thing has become so commercialised now that any meaning it did have once has been lost. In fact its enormous conspiracy by the supermarkets and the capitalists out there, too get as much money out of us as possible by the 25th of December.Its supposed to about the birth of Christ not an excuse to see who can spend as much money as they can or show off their wealth, which in fact is what they are doing. I can't waite for dambed thing to end.

I like Christmas pudding and mince pies. I am usually full up after the Christmas Day meal (who isn’t) but I will always have Christmas Pudding with custard, and several mince pies over the Christmas period. I always loved them, but somebody said years ago when I was at my works’ Christmas dinner, that it is unlucky to refuse them, so I never do. They are too nice to refuse anyway, I find Christmas pudd and mince pies comforting. 🥳
