Sometime in the 90s, when this movie was out on VHS, 4 generations of my family sat together at Christmas and watched this movie. Children as young as 8 or 9 to great grandparents as old as 80 or 90 were all laughing. It takes a very special movie to make some born in the 1910s and someone born in the 1980s laugh together. To this day it's one of my fondest memories.

Fun story, when Kevin Pollak (Jacob) first met Walter Matthau (his hero), he was nervous. He wanted to talk to him, but didn’t know what to say. So he said, “Nice script huh? This is going to be a great movie.” And Walter, without skipping a beat said, “The script stinks kid. I owe my bookie 2 million dollars.” Haha😂

Burgess Meredith was also the Penguin in the old "Batman" television series that aired from 1966-1968 that starred Adam West. His way of portraying the Penguin, with the waddle and his vocalizations (I couldn't even begin to describe them and do them justice) was perfect for the comedic angle the series took. You really have to watch a few of his episodes, whether you do it on or off the channel.
