Geoffrey Palmer narrating at his best. I'm sad he died. I love this series so much that I've Playlisted them. I plan to play them back to my daughters, watch their faces.... When I took the train to London I'd deliberately put the front page of my newspaper upside-down. Just to piss off those trying to read for free. Every so often I'd peep over the top and grin, maliciously. The one on the opposite side turned away. Ahh, gotcha! 😅

You suddenly see how fast technology flies by when you watch this, recorded in the early 2000s, and now their mobile phones and computers are dinosaur compared to 2018. Christ!

So true. Now it's not the smaller the phone, it's the bigger the phone that's better. People look like they're shouting into telly screens these days!

In fairness to 4WD owners in America, the extra road grip does help with the crazy amounts of snow they get. The argument could be made that in the old days people stayed home when it snowed really bad, but that's another losing battle.

i was spat out in 1958 so id say im of same or similar generation as these men but i taught myself computing not just the program side but how to repair them. 20 years ago i got around to certificating my knowledge and found the course mind numbingly boring as i could do everything the course taught so spent much of my time not in class room but in the college repair department, actually doing the repairs i was supposed to be being taught, the test i re-joying the class and a 3 hr test i completed in an hr. i also know a lot of people of same age group that would be able to do same as i did, but they prefer only to keep there computers updated and in working condition.

Just One tip if anybody hasn’t picked it up already, in most cases when you call a call centre, don’t press any buttons, don’t pick any options and that’s the quickest way to be put through to a real person. Another is to say the word “agent” when you can get a word in edgeways. Of course, if you’re bluntly threatened with being hung up on if you don’t enter some detail with your buttons - like the kind decent people at Her Majesty‘s Court Service do - then I’m just like most, and pick the nearest to all the description options they give, already booking a pre-emptive hour out of my day before I’m off the phone again.

Nobody needs an offroad vehicle ... not even off road ... as Top Gear has shown many times. A regular car and some brains is enough. And even if you get stuck off road ... that is something to talk about rather than the other option of "nothing happened because my car is overpowered".

*WHAT* is the name of the techno song that plays in the background from 19:41 to 20:31??? I used to love that kind of music, and this has been bugging me for 1,200 yea-I mean for twelve years. It's got guitars in it and everything, its awesome. Is it something obvious, like music that used to play at British call centers when you rang them up? Where can I find this song? I feel like I might as well ask the sky for the answer to this question...

I am a grumpy old man, well a grumpy old engineer. Teenagers are good with technology because it is childishly simple to use. There is no excuse for finding it difficult. I do hate smart phones though but they are easy to deal with. Use a short range phone jammer. Teenage girls will burst into tears and not stop sobbing until you get off the bus/train when magically their phone works again. You have to balance the peace and quiet of no calls with the crying.

Yep to the selfish parents who take they're children to school in range rovers etc, with bull bars... Please STOP hitting a child even whilst barely moving can be enough to kill, and what for, do you live on a farm?!... If not then please think about the damage you could do, in a normal car there's a chance of survival if hit, but with bull bars involved that chance of surviving falls dramatically, so please avoid using those vehicles for the school run, please.

If you agreed with the majority of these observations, you're NOT HAPPY in your life. You can do a Reggie Perrin, or show the British Govt that you will no longer put up with their rules, nanny state, political correctness, corruption and leave. I have lived outside the UK in 3 countries and have learnt a lot and become much happier. For me, Gordon Brown was the last straw. I left 15 years ago and I'm never going back!

The day of her funeral, I was backpacking in New Zealand and a guy said on live radio "it was the first funeral where they shot the salute into the coffin, not in the air. Thank fuck she's dead. If you have lived in Britain in the 80's with relatives almost starving during mining strikes, then you would understand how that woman screwed Britain up!
