Would you party this hard if you were a famous rock star?
@RandyTheWildHorse

If I was a younger guy back in the 1980's and had talent, I would because back when I was younger, I got high and drunk whenever I could afford it because I was miserable with the harassment I put up with at home, school, and on the street. Now with my way of thinking today, no because drugs and alcohol have aged as well as killed many rock stars with daily partying as well as eating food that is not healthy unless a trusted cook was hired.

@@gregoryeverson741 That, I would agree on. I saw a lot of drugs consumed by the rich and famous in Hollywood and for all the money they had the drugs were always stepped on, especially coke. Before it even left the barrio, it was less than 50% pure, then a few dealers after that most got coke in the 10% purity range. I even saw big name stars including their kids buy shit weed for $40 an 1/8th, back in the late 80s.

it makes you wonder if the media exaggerates or even totally makes up these stories in order to fool fans into thinking "rock stars" are superhuman. a guy once said, "nikki sixx looks really healthy to have been a serious heroin addict"....not trying to twist anyones mind but it makes you wonder if theyre just fooling everyone. theyre probably all just sober and in it for the money.

Ive been a guitar player for around 28 years... something like that. Anywhoo I can say that touring is what led me to drinking 24/7 that almost killed me. 2 strokes and a mild heart attack from withdrawals and over 24 seizures. I feel twice the age I am and it took quite awhile to re learn the guitar. I dont know how some of these musicians have lived as long as they have. All i can say is moderation. The party doesnt have to be all day every day. Once you lose interest in the guitar and the partying becomes the main goal its a tough climb back. To this day im either engaged in the guitar or im not, partying also messed with my relationships with family and loved ones etc. Just be safe people and know the party is actually in the music and performing it. ;-)

I partied that hard and wasn't even a Star. I OD'd 3 different times, and nearly died. I had friends that did die. When "More" becomes the goal, there is NO end to the indulgence! The absolute lack of awareness of our mortality just keeps saying, "Go for it"... not realizing that the "IT" that we're "going for" is our own death! I thank God through Jesus Christ, my Savior for deliverance from all of that, without which, I'd have died a LONG time ago!

It's about beeing abused. When you are on tour, you need to perform. After performing, you want to party when you should sleep and recover. When you are exhausted, you simply dont want to go on that shitty stage and perform before the stupid crowd. In your personal opinion, they can all go to hell. The people who paid for the tickets, the band, your management, the producers, they can all go to hell. Well, this isn't allowed to happen. If you use, all the aversion dosen't seem to be so big anymore, you seem revitalized, your mood changes into good. After you use, you must use again for the next show. There is no other way...

Good Artists can be prone to addiction because there is usually a bit of addictive behavior towards their art/craft that made them successful in the first place. Chemical influence may already play a part in an artist's creativity/life (as noted by the admission of more than a few musicians). Then if they are lucky enough to be "discovered", there can be excess money to accelerate the party situation. Fortunate Artist have quit, lucky enough to have a moments of "clarity" regarding their life situation.

There is more to this. Your in new York then in Dubi, then in LA. With in hours. You need a downer to get rest, then an upper to preform. You also want to be home with family. Time zone plus the travel is crazy. To survive this life style I have to give credit to them. But it's a choice.

Lemmy didn't party hard, he could deal with it perfectly well. Obviously, it would be too hard for anyone who wasn't Lemmy but as it was, he just partied (if you consider every single day a party that is!) Also, you can always tell when Ace was drinking, it was about the only time he had a smile on his face!
