I believe Fats Domino never got the full credit he really deserved mainly because of the wild men of rock and roll such as Little Richard, Elvis Presley, Chuck Berry and Jerry Lee Lewis. Just my humble opinion.

I have always absolutely loved Elvis, since I was a little girl, my Dad was a big fan of Fats Domino, and he introduced me to a lot of early rock and roll music, which I still love today.

I can still remember my grandpa singing “I found my thrill……oooon blueberry hill” when I was a kid like it was yesterday. Sadly it was 40 years ago and he and the fat man have both moved on to another world.

The pink album The Fat Man was my favorite since I was 4 years old. My older brother loved that album and played it everyday after work, and I’d sit in his room & listen with him. To this day at 68 years old I still know all the words to every Fats Domino song on that album.

But then I heard he had been living in Louisiana and they lost their home in 2005 Katrina. I was sad to hear he had passed away before they could rebuild it back. My late father's FAVORITE musician. I grew up listening to him. He told me stories how, in 1950s Louisiana, he was admonished by his father and older relatives for listening to a black man's music. It never deterred his love for Fats' music, and every time i hear his music i think fondly of my dad.

Fats was an icon and everyone in the music industry understood his awsome music ability his shows were entertaining and you never came away with the feeling that it could have been better due to fact that you were observing genuine R&B my brother bought home an LP from Fats which at the time I didn't think very much of but after him repeatedly playing it over and over again, I was amazed at his versatility he was indeed a musical genius in every respect. It wasn't necessary to compare him to Elvis, he was bigger than Elvis and I am sure Elvis was aware of this.

Ilove fats domino.. his voice is friendly and young...his piano was happy, little Richard, was great too ...the composer of "go Johnny go" (whose name escapes now) is super great to rock and roll as are all others..Elvis was a giant and he is remembered because like Joe Louis, some people are just memorable.. not every boxer is Joe Louis and not every singer is elvis...I am just happy and glad I lived my life during the birth of rock and roll and I enjoyed all rock and rock artists and I loved rock around the clock by Bill Haley ,the world danced to rock around the clock but few people know or remember Bill Haley...Who said life is fair? Watch Sally Rafael TV specials on rock and roll greats...some greats did not end up so great...some became homeless and forgotten...life is life , it can be both beautiful and cruel

I've heard accounts from several people who played with or saw him in the years before he hit big - almost all say he had the house in the palm of his hands from the 1st song. Maybe the stage fright developed and worsened over time. I love the stories about the riot on this video. Fats kills it on piano, and embodies the New Orleans sound. I was born in, raised in and still live in Roanoke, VA but I didn't know this incident that they mentioned here mu late mom mentioned going to a Little Richard concert some time back then and my soon to be father escorted her to the concert but he wasn't into rock n roll music that I know of and I don't know if or how it felt about rock n roll because he was into country and bluegrass music but hr didn't care for or like a lot of the country music stars back then but I don't know how he felt about some of the big names whose music crossed all racial divided such as The Everly Brothers or Elvis Presley but he didn't care for quite a few of the big name country stars from back then such as Bill Anderson and Hank Snow and a few others that I can't think of at the moment but I was very surprised that he escorted our mom to a rock concert!
