Maybe someone can correct me but while Starfox has been around for decades and always had pleasure powers. The idea of him using them for personal sexual gain against people's will was only a more modern take on him. Moondragon on the other hand years ago used her mental powers to force Thor to be her lover if I'm not mistaken. It is an interesting question with people like Starfox or Spider-Woman(Jessica Drew). Both have powers that make people attracted to them that they can't completely shut off. Can any of their lovers claim they were taken advantage of? Generally people with these seductive powers are villains but could you lead a normal life with such powers? Could you ever trust that a person genuinely cares about you?

@@leonevelake What i meant was Thanos character history shows he has no "free will" of his own as compared to other marvel characters so any evil act he does is not doing from a narrative standpoint. For 99.9% of Marvel characters the reader has to assume that the characters in context have free will for the story to work and get enjoyment out of it. After the HOTU arc you can't attribute the assumation to Thanos as the writer directly controlling his actions was hinted or out right stated in Marvel continuity. It is why Deadpool can kill random civilians in marvel comics but still be classified as a hero. It is because in the context of his story, he knows he is a work of fiction and his actions aren't his own, so the reader can't fault him for it.

Grailsarvas he willingly raped her and multiple other women and had no intention of stopping that, it’s not Jessica Jones’s job to fix an unrepentant rapist. Being sympathetic does not make someone redeemable
@condimentking33956 жыл бұрын
Grailsarvas The show is supposed to be darker. Jessica has problems of her own. She probably fought him for revenge instead of responsibility or something attitude. Expecting a “everybody’s suddenly a good guy” would’ve been more unsatisfying for the type of show they were going with. If you dislike darker shows, then whatever, but it’s not the show’s fault for not having it’s characters be clear minded and perfect. Besides, I doubt an adult with no guidance whatsoever would start listening to other people just because. That’d be vastly more frustrating to me
@condimentking33956 жыл бұрын
Grailsarvas Right..... At the end of the day, you didn’t like the show because it didn’t follow your script. It’s bad because it has too good of actors. It’s bad because I wanted it to take more from superhero shows than noir shows or something. It’s bad because the villain is sympathetic. If you don’t see how your reasoning shows your tastes and not the quality of the show, then there is no point arguing. I don’t agree that people with tragic pasts should always get a redemption in a show, that the villain being extremely sympathetic is a problem, or that it didn’t stick to a superhero code. Your idea of it setting up a redemption was my idea of them setting up a good, interesting antagonist in a dark show. Try to argue against my tastes there. If you can’t reasonably do so, then maybe you’ll see it is just my preference compared to yours. Btw, your preference would probably lean towards lighter shows, which was my original point. Being upset that the show didn’t make its protagonist doing the best possible thing means you would hate much darker shows
@condimentking33956 жыл бұрын
Grailsarvas I was using the script thing as a metaphor. The only thing that bothered me with an agenda was the thing with the sister and some director. That felt forced, but everything else is just you adding labels that don’t need to be added. There was no importance in the cop being white. He probably was white because his comic counterpart was as well. The reason purple man was white is because him being purple would look terrible, and there are a surplus of white actors. What you don’t seem to understand about tastes and preferences is that everyone has them, and it influences their perspective on good writing. I think having Kilgrave go good would be terribly boring. That’s my preference, and yours prefers the opposite. Imo, saying a character has redeeming qualities only for the protagonist take them away is more interesting than using those qualities for the character itself. Maybe read some Bentham or something dude

2:03 Frankly, I would be interested in seeing Netflix do a mini series on a character powered by cocaine. What if you had someone who constantly crossed the line between a hero and villain, because he had no control over what the drug did to him? You could do some interesting things with the character, as well as address drug related issues and how the consequences affect those around you. And technically, aren't ALL vampires "racist", in that they all want to suck the blood out of the entire human race? And isn't vampirism an allegory for sexually transmitted disease anyways (ie if the vampire doesn't kill you, you will eventually become one)? How is adding AIDS to it crossing the line? That is like a doctor saying to you "Your proximity to the Incredible Hulk has given you cancer from the radiation he has been emitting.. but when he patted you on the head, you also got radioactive super lice. You now have the power of lice... and cancer."

Too many characters. It looks like a waste of time to even research about them. All about the writers looking to hit a jackpot. Thanks but not thanks, I like simple and basic. Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Green Lantern, Iron Man, Hulk, Captain America.... plain and simple. And their enemies? Just keep them at two or three, not dozens of them like Batman who has too many enemies. Joker, Penguin, Riddle, Two Face, leave it like that, just a few strong ones which are the classics. And don’t forget, there is one superhero who is on top of all of them, and that is Superman (or any Kryptonian like Supergirl as well). Superman has basically most of the superpowers of all those heroes combined. And if he was real, he would be really the only superhero needed. The stories we read and watch about him need some kind of plot, but based on his superpowers, his brain would also be powerful enough to be many steps ahead of his enemies. Kryptonite would not be an issue because he would know before hand how to deal with such situations. We see Batman as one of the only superheroes that can take on Superman. If they were real, Batman would have no chance against him. As intelligent he might be, Superman would be many times more intelligent and much faster thinking, he would do circles around b Batman (not that I don’t like Batman, it is one of the best ones in my opinion, but facts are facts). DC has so much potential in their hands with just Superman, that it is stupid what they did to the franchise with the last movie Justice League. Please WB and DC, put some real directors and producers to bring back the franchise to the correct level. Cheers

iceguy93 his standards include making a female version of himself because a woman wouldn’t notice his acts of violence as love

Holy WOW! Bring some of these back as a reflection on today's society. The right writters and cercumstances could make these members of trash some of the best teachers out there.

Thoughts on each: Arisia: I don't see why it is wrong if she was adult but initially looked younger. I looked twenty+ at fifteen, some people get the reverse, no biggie and it's not wrong for Hal to go after that reverse. The AIDS vampire I don't mind, despite myself being a lesbian. Maybe not the most tactful portrayal of AIDS, but what happened was probably just badly executed symbolism of AIDS = "draining blood" of young gay men, no need to get any panties in a knot, product of it's time. Bueno Excellente could be retconned into a chivalrous pervert, like Akuta from Magical Girl Apocalypse, who's at first implied to have raped corpses when the apocalypse happened, but is later revealed to be just a really openly pervy virgin who ends up dying while wanking off to insult the Devil and using that as a distraction to give the parasite helping him time to get to the Devil and suppress its powers. Jamm is trash, needed to make the non trash heroes stand out. Starfox could be made into a villain á la Heartbreaker from Worm, could work maybe, also, Thanos's is still the worse person, killing half of all life is way worse than being a walking roofie.

I'm 29 and still look exactly how I did when I was 14~16. So every woman I've been with is a pervert.

No one is going to mention how similar Shinsui from My Hero Academia is to Jam, minus the annoying factor?

People keep misrepresenting the Starfox thing. The sleazy rapey interpretation is a new thing and has never been confirmed. Previously he was established to never use his powers in a sexual contest on anyone without their consent.

Makes a list of most “inappropriate“ comic characters. Shows Marvel and DC characters only (and one from Image). That's like making a list of the 10 best alcoholic drinks, and coming up with 9 different beers (and straw rum). Besides, “inappropriate“ comic characters, as in inappropriate fictional things created for entertainment? Sheesh ...

So they consider Starfox who is a good guy and an avenger who can't control his powers worse than his Mad Titan Brother Thanos who wiped out half of all life in the universe? So in other words a guy who powers allow him to sleep with other women (who can't control his powers) is worse than guy who committed genocide on half of the universe. So why are they siding with Thanos, do they prefer genocide over sex maniac? From what I can see they are both bad, it just that I see that genocide is worse. Thanos has selected with women too and had a lot of biological children which he would later kill them because he was afraid they might kill him later on. ( Thanos killed his own children, which makes him a child killer) The only child who survived ( As far as I know) was his son Thane who is half Inhuman and was living with the other inhumans and he once bonded with the Phoenix.
