This was incredibly helpful. 11 years later still helping fellow bikers. Thank you very much, sir.

Thank you sooo much! I have been riding bikes for 15 years but have never been able to get any of my bikes onto the centre stand. The guys at bike shops always show the traditional technique for lifting it but I'm only 5'6" tall and am a runner not a body builder. Today I adjusted my own bike chain for the first time ever. And it was only possible because of your technique. Thanks man!

This was a life saver. I'm 6"2 but have very thin arms. Worked instantly. Thanks for showing us all mate

When I did my test, I was completely new to doing the centre stand too, what they taught me was to stand on the bit that you push on, then just step into the bike, and with no effort it just falls onto the centre stand, easy as that!

Thank you so much for this video! You've saved this girl from any further tears of frustration trying to put her GS 500 up on the centre stand. I CAN DO IT NOW!! :D

I was instructed to watch your video "after" I dumped a friends GS500 on a slippery wet night. Now I know a better way to yank her back & up. Thanks!

Your GS500 looks weird. Nothing like mine. Where is the electrical tape? And what is all of that shiny blue stuff that is coating your tank and plastics?

Tx Adidasguy...nice vid from the Cave...gonna try this tommorow. Looking forward to more GS500 movies.

Great Idea. I just got one and ive been working on it so I just grab both handle bars and have to jerk it back a few times until I finally get it. When dropping it down I do the same thing. The first time the weight almost got me to drop it to the other side.

Oh dude, that is an amazingly easier way to it. thanks.!

@JonJon95GT I hide the tape on the other side LOL. That shiny stuff sometimes came with bikes. I think its called paint and polish. Looks nice. I hope it doesn't wash off in the rain here in Seattle.

If you grab the luggage tie-down bar just below the rear bodywork panel,.. it is longer than the right side and more inline with the centre stand for this reason. reaching down to grab the frame work is too far for your back to bend which can cause a bad back injury and ruin the riding experience every time,.... Do it the safe and intended way!

I dropped by GS 2 months after buying it when getting it off the centre stand cause I let it lean away from me. It was awful and it still stresses me out when I have to take it off the stand, especially if the ground is not entirely level. It may be a good idea to try doing it while sitting on the bike as shown here.

I'll have to give this a try. I'm 6'2 and find the way they say do it to be awkward, i look like I'm fighting with the bike. This method looks a lot simpler.

ill be damned were both the same size. ( cept for feet) i put my gs' on centre stand differently tho. although after seeing your video i see i was wrong. either id hold bnoth bars and put side stand down, and while holding both bars, push down on centre stand pulling backwards. when i first started in 03 on the gs, id pull on subframe and tail grab handle. NOT touching bars @ all.

I find the best way to get it off is to be on the bike. If I was 6' tall and heavier - maybe I could do it by the book. Sorry your bike fell over. Hopefully no serious damage. If you need parts, go to gstwins dot com. That's the best place for gs500 advice, info and spare parts.

Where can I find smoked turn signals that you have? Thanks in advance!
@Lajko110 жыл бұрын
I use the 2001+ turn signals. On ebay you can get smoke lenses for them from Lights4All. They also have smoke LED rear brake lights. Direct replacement and it illuminates the license plate.

@Lajko1 I dropped my gs500e in the driveway today trying to be a hero and get it on the stand while mounted. No damage... or maybe it just blends with the damage it had when I got it. Either I thought of this video and laughed. :)

Making motorcycle video's but not knowing you just have to put it on the center stand by using body weight.
