I think that menu was my very first review. I know that was one ration I didn't care for. Interesting to see the contents of both packages. Guess they just dump stuff in at random. Cheers!

I'm pretty surprised that the chicken looks like real chicken, and the tomatoes held up pretty well too. I was watching other MRE reviewers, and your name kept popping up. So I just had to check you out, too. So far I'm liking them! Keep 'em coming!

Quite efficient of Sopakco to use leftover inventory to round out certain runs of their meals. It makes sense financially. If you have 10,000 extra packs of shortbread cookies sitting in a warehouse, it is better to put them in a batch of meals instead of wasting them. Hungry people won't care what color the packaging is. Nice review, as always!

I think these commercial MRE s are basically put together from over stock or rejects from packing the military contracted mre. By rejects not so much in off food but probably a packaging error or by weight in the amount packed. But mostly overstock so these companies can still make money by selling commercially. My two cents.

I'm kind of surprised the military hasn't looked into adding those Mio Liquid Water Enhancer containers, they make between 12 to 24 8oz serving that supposedly gives you energy, and can last 30 days after opening, don't know if they go bad after a few years even if unopened though..

You gotta remember that MRE's are meant to be for military personnel out in the field. They burn over 4000 calories in a single day if they are in battle, and "normal" food wouldn't have nearly enough calories or nutrition to keep them on their feet. That's why MRE's are LOADED with calories as well as every other nutrient a human needs. It's because they need it. Sugar, sodium, protein, carbs, all of it needs to be massively heightened in order for a soldier to effectively do his/her job.

You should have tried adding the creamer and sugar from the coffee to the cereal to add some flavor and "milk"! Awesome video!

I came down in the middles on this entree - neither love nor hate. Mine didn't heat well, either (I was in my kayak on a chilly day last October) and by the time I snapped a photo, it was cold. That entree is discontinued for 2015 MREs, so it's likely the troops thought poorly of it as well. With so many other great choices available, I think I'll pass on any I may come across.

Not one of my favorite MRE entrees. It's a bit bland I think would really benefit from the inclusion of cayenne pepper powder or tabasco sauce in the accessory pack; not terrible (vomelete, I'm looking at you), but it's definitely not one of the most desirable ones, either.
@MrHeem9410 жыл бұрын
IDK. They seem to vary wildy. Why put in 2 different spreads? A side would be nice. Quality control seems a bit of a problem. That chicken looked nice tho. Too bad it didnt get heated up like it should have. Tobasco, where art thou? Quality control man. Thanks for the review.

My guess is they were testing the packaging options for the cereal bars, did a batch of one sealed normal one day, a batch of the others vacpacked the next and then put them through testing etc and shoved them into the civilian mres to get rid of them. Bet the vacpacked cereal bars will end up in a govt mre eventually.

If anyone was in an emergency situation with these MRE packs, I doubt they would be complaining as much as you did. No offence, but its a MRE pack, not a restaurant down the road.
@gschultz99 жыл бұрын
+spaaggetii I didn't realize I was complaining? I've always been a bit of a fan of MREs and really appreciate them for what they are (long-term storage rations that do their best to provide a good meal in addition to all the nutrients). I also am kind of "strange" in that I actually enjoy most of them. I've become a bit more "critical" in the reviews because I used to get a lot of criticism on the fact that Id always taste the food and just say "that's good" (specifically because of the fact that they ARE good, but not something you'd find in a restaurant). Despite the fact that it's not "restaurant fare" people still wanted to see the stuff reviewed as though it were. I guess it makes sense to try to be as descriptive as possible, especially for people who haven't had the "pleasure" of actually trying an MRE who'd like to know what they're all about. I hope that makes sense.

I agree that this is a good entree. It's polarizing because of the strong enzyme taste from the feta. People love it, or hate it. E.g. I love blue cheese - Mrs. Taylor and the kids...? Hate it. Go figure?

i wanna try some mre's where can you buy them for canadians and what menu you recommend
@gschultz910 жыл бұрын
gamerkid45 As I mentioned in a recent video, Meal Kit Supply has locations in both the U.S. and Canada. It's probably the cheapest way to get MREs shipped to Canada, as they don't have to cross borders. Go to mealkitsupply.com and click on "Change Country" in the upper right corner. As far as recommendations, it's all a matter of personal taste. If I told you what I liked best, it could be that you'd hate those particular entrees. For instance, I really liked this meal, but I know a lot of others hate it. Best advice if you're picking and choosing meals is to try to get stuff that you know you like rather than trying out something you normally wouldn't want to eat.
