We took Chestnut Top trail to Schoolhouse Gap trail. Then we walked across the bridge on Laurel Creek rd to take Bote Mountian trail to the West Prong trail. We camped at campsite 18. It’s a very nice campsite. I took the West Prong trail out to my car the next morning. Jerry and Joe stayed another night to hike over to Cades Cove.

I would have frozen solid...but that does look like a good setup. I just sleep cold. The past 2 weekends I have slept in below 20 in my Ridgerunner, it was 17 last night about 9, and doubled my insulation to stay warm. The snow was awesome friday!

Man, you guys seem to have similar adventures to my ragtag crew. Gone the wrong way on a trail a few times as well. That campsite looked amazing though, only I can't figure out why anyone stays there when that white stuff is still on the ground. Sorry, that's the Florida side speaking out. Just a thought, SOL makes an emergency sleeping bag now that promises to wick moisture away. I have the older model, which saved me from hypothermia one spring campout when I just had a tee shirt and nylon pants when a front rolled through. By morning, I was damp with sweat though. I was thinking the new edition may be able to replace bulkier stuff.
@SalineScott
@SalineScott 4 жыл бұрын
Campfire Steve Yeah... that white stuff seemed to be too cold. Lol. I got cold that night. It woke me up a few times. I’ve got a SOL emergency bivvy. It gets condensation in it though. It would work in an emergency though.
