I can never get enough of genshin music. There is such a wide variety between the different regions and instruments and contexts (battle music, city music, environmental etc) . And then when you add the layer of context of the story, this Fontaine song can range from a grand introduction to the city, to the sorrow and drama and grandeur of the climax of the story. It really hits emotions on another level. And that is just fontaine, all the others have their own story contexts, and such an amazing blend of instruments and cultures. I never get tired of it.

I'm not well versed in instruments but even I can appreciate all the interesting unique instruments used in this performance. You might be able to tell but Fontaine is an area in Genshin, based on France, and their "element" is water, hence all those water-based instruments :D Due to Genshin's popularity, I anticipate you may be inundated with lots of requests if you haven't already. I want to apologize a bit on their behalf, Genshin's fans are quite enthusiastic about the music in the game :') but I hope everyone is nice and pleasant, and not too demanding. The world in this game is a fantasy interpretation of various regions in the real world. These regions are defined by an element and I guess like a concept. Fontaine, the nation of Hydro (water; hence the many water motif's in the lighting and instrumentation) and Justice. Its strongly inspired by France and the surrounding cultures.

There are several different concepts from Genshin that you SHOULD absolutely check out. Genshin has an amazing soundtrack that ranges in a lot of different soundscapes and genres of music since it’s an open world game with each region being based on real world countries. Fontaine specifically is based on France and general European sounds. Please check out the Sumeru, Inazuma, and Liyue concerts, you’ll be stunned by them. Also lil fun fact that adds a little more detail to these pieces, Fontaine within Genshin is the nation of water. So the use of the Glass Harp and Glass Harmonica in the pieces is very fitting since they’re water based instruments!

The really nice touch is that this music is for Genshin Impact's nation associated with water, and to create it, they used instruments that you play on using water - the glass harp and glass harmonica (which is the instrument used in the second piece that looks like glass bowls or goblets). The different nations of Genshin are based on different places in our real world and their music will use instruments associated with those places. I really recommend checking out more of it.

If you like this, you can check out other orchestra performance from Genshin Impact. There are 7 regions in game that are inspired by real life countries, and the music made for each region reflects that by using tradional instruments from the corresponding real life countries/cultures, in addition to the standard orchestral instruments. The amazing thing is that all are composed by Hoyoverse, and not only the instruments, but you can feel the melody is truly originated from these countries, so the composers must do some intense researches. Also, they are often performed in the corresponding country, for example: the music of the Japanese inspired region is performed by Tokyo Orchestra in Tokyo Opera City Concert Hall. It makes the variety of music in Genshin Impact unparralleled. There are currently a total of 1000+ tracks in Genshin Impact. Some other Orchestra Perfomance videos are: - Sumeru Live Symphony Performce | Genshin Impact (Middle East and South Asia inspired) - Realm of Tranquil Eternity: Inazuma Live Symphony Performance | Genshin Impact (Japan inspired) - Genshin Concert Special Edition - Reflections of Spring | Genshin Impact (China inspired)

The unusual instruments" are what makes Genshin very cultural: the Viola da Gamba, the Accordeon are in Fontaine's music because Fontaine is based in western Europe, mostly France. There are Shakuhachi, Koto and others in Inazuma, which is based on Japan, as there are Duduk/Armenian flute on Sumeru, along other native instruments I don't know. Sumeru is based on an amalgam of everything from Egypt to India, but mostly Iranian and Arabic culture. I'd love to see your reaction to a bit of each type of Genshin music types: - The short (~1min) character themes: Bard's Adventure (Venti), Marching of Xiezhi (Yanfei), Dance of Aphros (Eula), Devotion of the Keeper (Thoma), Awake from a Nightmare + Termination of Desires (Raiden Shogun), Graceful Dexterity (Yelan), Storm Chaser (Heizou), Winding Through Avidya (Tighnari), Nephrite of Deshret (Candace). - The epic boss battle themes: Symphony of the Boreal Wind (Andrius), Rage Beneath the Mountains (Azhdaha), Saltatio Favillae (La Signora), Polumnia Omnia (Scaramouche), All-Devoring Narwhal (same), Absoluto Absoluta Absolutissima (Arlecchino). - Emotional story music: Tender Strength, Moonlike Smile, Hanachirusato, Fading Memories, Caress of the 3 Mothers, Her Wishes, Rainbow Cradlesong - Exploration music: Stories of Remote Antiquity, , Sink into Oblivion - Battle music: Burst into Flames, Rapid as Wildfire, Rhyme of Vales (Desert Version), Lamentation et Triomphe (watch the video, it's super amazing!) - Relaxing BGM: Legend of Redemption, Peaceful Wishes, Village Surrounded by Green, Ann's Quiescent Residence - Unique (?) thematic song: La Vaguellette (the clip version, with Cecilia Cara singing). There's so much more but these cover the main stuff and are all I can remember by now.

4:55 - This musical instrument is called a glass Harmonica. An instrument of incredible musical frequency. But it also has a downside. People who are unprepared cannot listen to the melody of this instrument for a long time. The thing is that the melody that this instrument emits produces very unusual low frequencies. I personally saw how after playing this instrument in Prague. People fainted. Therefore, the instrument is very unusual and sounds incredibly beautiful. In the past! So in the 18th century, approximately. This instrument was called the Angelic One. They also tried to ban the tool at that time, considering it dangerous. Na. You're welcome to think that way but it's simply not true. Many of the OSTs that didn't include him are phenomenal. Enkanomiya, many character demos like Raiden and Yelan, Fontaine's music, some pieces in the Chasm as well as that one battle theme for Fischl's domain during the summer event, etc etc. There's an entire video on songs within the game that YPC didn't have any hand in and they're all just as good as the stuff he did help with. Besides, it isn't like YPC made those songs solo anyway. It was done by team. He's just the only name people know so he gets all the credit. He also didn't do all of Sumeru(some yes but not all) either so you listing it here just kind of tells me that you don't know what songs he did and didn't work on but attach his name on to things selectively. I know links don't work normally but a little copy paste should work fine. Some songs he DIDNT work on: kzbin.info/www/bejne/gn61qpaPqKqtbZIsi=bF5Y7akD6q8PiaxG Trust me, I love YPC's work in GI too, but to pretend the music has dipped in quality at all since his departure is just dishonest imo.
