This guy's a true warrior. He's very modest and determined, you can tell he's completely in for the love of sport instead of spotlight. He doesn't have that ego that comes with the job, he totally deserves the title.

@jpcowboy He's using a chair because he's doing a box squat which is a variation of a squat which utilizes the Quads, as opposed to an atg squat which uses the Hamstrings too. Learn what an exercise is before criticizing someone else.

if you work as fast as he does (no break between each of the workouts) then this is a very beneficial workout cardiowise, but then again... if you do anything for about an hour strait its a good workout...

@chwdsTRUE if you mean the one wer he uses the chair its called the sit up squat it is better for training power and uses the quads much more than a normal squat so it probably is better for mma but im sure gsp does evey type of squat to get variety into his training program and to train his muscles in different ways. if you mean the jumping dumbell squat this also trains power hope this helped

@Highway420Music what you are saying is right, but you also have to remember that MMA training takes A LOT out of a person, it's not like you can do 4 hours of bjj, muay thai, wrestling a day and then go to the gym and max out on your lifts. from my experience it's very hard to train 5 times a week and then go to the gym and actually do heavy lifting more than once or twice. granted I'm not even an amateur fighter or anything close to that. plus you have to cut 20-30 lbs and then build it up

@pacholito24 If you don't think his standup has improved after 3 years of training ,thats kind of hard to justify, anyway of course their is better strikers in the division techincally, but he is becoming a well rounded fighter day by day. A nice arm-triangle on a tired carwin, but lesnar was just as tired and landed a nice shot early in the round. Even Couture gave his stand-up credit, more so to the reach his lunchboxes has but god damn. And I loved the way he dominated Mir in the rematch.

@jb11379 Honestly id say this is safe to do a 3 day a week. ex: mon, wed, fri. Do these for about 6 weeks then go to a split body for 4 weeks then go back to this for another 6 weeks. You dont want to keep doing it because you'll hit a plateau, varying it up would help you gain more.

@pacholito24 Its not is brute strength that ended the takedown with Mir and herring, its his explosive speed in his shot. Of course Mir knew he was going to try and shoot in for a takedown, Mir trained for a year trying to defend that, but what happened is the inevitable. Once he reaches you with his lightning speed and grabs ahold of you its a rap, He's the fastest heavyweight around in and out of his shots. His cardio for his size is amazing. He just keeps pushing and pushing and pushing

George is the man but everyone else should be careful in doing squats the way GSP did as he sat/rolled on that bench. With heavier (or not even much heavier) weight that is a very dangerous move on the back. Good Luck in your next match GSP!

Is the exercise right after he does the seated squats, the exercise where he steps back and it is sort've like a backwards lunge. Is that exercise more for balance than anything? I would like to know because i wrestle and it seems like balance is an issue for me.

@the3bigreddevils I've never seen anyone do that much damage in a guard before, he just pulled a takedown into mirs guard and turned to his side which is brilliant, and pounded away with one hand till frank couldn't handle it. I'm no lesnar nut-hugger but I deffinitly respect the level of skill he has and ofcourse i wanted Mir and Carwin to win. Every fighter fights to his strength and MMA has shown that brutes never done well vsing top notch fighters but Lesnar can keep away from his weaknesses

@GuardianAngel5150 Even GSP at his current size is still horribly smaller when compared to Anderson Silva. St. Pierre reportedly now walks around at 200 lbs. at 5'11", while Silva still walks at whopping 6'2" ~220 lbs. Sure they could meet at 185 (maybe even a catch weight), but Anderson is still much larger (a whole honest class) than St. Pierre.

@kevin13021 It's interesting you brought up explosive strength because that is spot-on. From UFC1 you were either jacked or technically skilled. Now MMA revolves around explosive strength and cardio. Hence why fighters get outclassed ex; coleman ( hes old though ) Rampage , Sherk etc etc.. I cant say Lesnar because his Explosiveness might be the best in the bizzz and his technical skill is getting better and better every day in terms of boxing and submission Defense. His wrestling is first class
