Dyno after factory rebuid on bottom end, head swap to 04 cobra heads, 2.5" magnaflow exhaust.

If Ford had put THIS engine in the Mach 1 and released it from 99-04 it would have been an N/A LS1 killer!

The problem would have been gas mileage. The other problem would have been people not buying Cobras :) And the shaker hood.... I have a Mach and it runs easily with LS1s. I can live with that.

@@331Grabber gas mileage wont be any different than a 4.6 2v. You gotta remember that when dropping this engine in a new edge as opposed to its home in a navigator, you're shaving off about 3000 pounds. Which greatly helps mpg.

It just doesn’t really make sense to me to do all of that, just to give an LS1 a good run for its money. LS1 gets a cam and ported heads with some simple boltons maybe flex fuel and its looking at close to 450-460 wheel on a good tune. Maybe im just opinionated, it just seems like a lot of work for what you get out of it

@@BlurrrieMedia is the same here. Over 400 hp with cam headers e85 and a intake manifold. The 5.4 build here was done wrong from what I can see. And no normal highway gas mileage isn't going to differ at all. In town has mileage will but that's all.

@@itserick_7669 The Mach 1 uses a 4.6L 4 valve it's slightly different than the cobra

all 4v modular factory cams from 01-04 use same cams. I would have loved to drop a set of cams in it but couldnt really swing another $1500-1800

is that each or for a set of 2. also what crankshaft in that and lastly can the 03-04 cobra crankshaft fit?

Not sure you have done much research. But that is for a set of 4 via a dohc engine. Also a 5.4 and 4.6 have different stroke length cranks so no neither will work if swapped

It would workbut you'd be de-stroking the 5.4 so unless you wanted to make a 5.0. Mod it would be pointless,

Switch your cams out for sn95 96-98 cams, they're more aggressive. With a 5.4L block, C heads, 2.5" exhaust and sn95 cams you would probably be looking around 350rwhp/400rwtq

Yup. On Stock mach 1s it's good for 22-25 RWHP. But all you need is the intake cams.

Boss Intake off of the Australian ford falcon... Its comparable to the cobra r intake

Did you use the factory k member? If so what oil pan did you go with

Factory k member and factory 4.6 oil pan. Factory 4.6 engine mounts. I had to space the k member about 1inch or so away from body with longer bolts so the engine would sit lower and be able to use Factory hood

Gotcha. I am going back and forth between using navigator heads with the boss 302 intake or 03-04 cobra heads with the falcon intake.

No change in power between Navi heads and 03-04 cobra heads.... at least with this N/A setup

Might have gotten better numbers with cams from an N/A car but sweet swap nonetheless

I'm about to swap 4v C heads on my 5.4 and going with the Boss 260 manifold. Any fitment issues or suggestions you have regarding the throttle body? Not sure how that's gonna work. Also, do you need specific fuel rails for this setup?

I had to space K member away from body and had to cut out the hood scoop for the idle valve to sit up in. It's a very tight squeeze lol

Yoo bad my svo heads that are being wrkd on as we speak doesnt fit this motor, else I would trying to find one right now. And I had too much money invested to make switch now lol. But for anyone wanting a boss 290 intake there is one on ebay right now for like $450 as of 03/05/2014 last night. I nearly hopped on it myself. Im sure these are not on here that often. But yea that intake looks amazing. I remember watching another video with ur hood up an was instantly focused on the intake rather thn the motor as a hold. Trying to figure out wht it was. I was like wtf?? Lol

thats a insane cheap price for that intake! that was my main goal with this whole swap. i went for being different and to stand out instead of horsepower. and i enjoy it this way

So what yr navi u got ur motor out of? Is the 99-04 rated the same hp/tq?

my short block is 04 navi, the heads are 04 cobra. i believe all 99-04 navi are the same power, 300hp, 330tq, at the ENGINE. only thing i change was intake, exhaust and a tune and made 333hp 378tq at the WHEELS lol. love that intake :)

***** I had already started on my heads an cams for my 4.6. Already had money invested by the time I put serious thought in build a 5.4L. If I could put my svo heads/bulit cams, an svo intake manifold on the 4v 5.4, I would still go that route. But my 4.6 will still be plenty fast by the time im finish.

ALEXANDER Sherman 99%wiring wise but not all necessary in the right place and some connectors are different, so you'd have to re-pin those but it's not hard
