With the notch you need to make on the rear to clear the 3 bolts once you have cut the top & side of the notch section which will make a L shape just flip it over & you will have the perfect piece to weld back into the gap made this will give you a concave L shape notch all you have to do than is weld in 2 small square sections on the sides

Hi Dan. My mate built one of these some years back. We went to the 24 hr Le mans with him . It was a GTD car. Stunning & he still has it. Not seen him for a while, but i'm sure he had sump problems using the Ford ?? i think 402 ci. I am also sure he did a dry sump conversion for the same reason. I believe he fitted the oil tank in the front of the car & ran lines down to the rear. You may need to throw out the window all you know about driving & re learn. Being short wheel base they are as twitchy as hell. He took me out a few times in it & i was glad to get out. Lovely car but so twitchy on full power. Great video's so far. Regards from the UK. Your doing a great job Dan. 1 thing that is concerning, you’ve got a brand new engine with the exhaust ports taped over to stop anything getting in there. And you’ve got the whole main engine components open to air with nothing to stop fine particles getting in there. Plus your oil filter housing open to air. I know your garage is very clean, but you really need to seal the engine back up

How to put a Coyote in a GT40 ... Did mine a few years ago so it was a Gen 1 Coyote without a complicated intake system. Didn't rotate the intake manifold as I considered a slight intrusion through the bulkhead to feed the air into the throttle body was worth it to keep the throttle body out of a potentially very hot area where the exhausts all congregate. Mounting the PCM in the bulkhead, behind the drivers seat, gives it a similar relative position to that in a front engined car. This means minimal modification to the supplied wiring loom, all the standard connectors can remain in place and be used, it even reached the accelerator pedal. You still have to open up the loom to reroute some wires but I think I only had to extend one wire. Keep up the good work ...

Dan, I would suggest to fit the auxiliaries once dry, when you have the motor out, just to be sure it'll all fit. It will take a few minutes and it will put you mind at ease regarding that. After that just put them back in their respective boxes until the final assembly.

The gen 3 intake will improve driveability because of the better low-end torque the short intake runner will provide. But since you want to switch to the open intake stacks, I would just stick with the original setup for now. for simplicity. To accommodate the throttle body you could build a recessed access panel which would give you more room in front of the motor as a temporary solution. That should be fairly easy to accomplish. And I agree with you on welding the rear notch piece back in! Btw. I hope you taped off the bottom end of your motor off!

Very helpful. I'm sure other builders, like myself, in Victoria/Australia who are building and need to maintain compliance with the ADR requirements will be very grateful of the details. the need to maintain the stock intake in some form for emissions compliance certainly does present some challenges. I do remember one of the other builders in the USA had fitted a GT350 intake, which sits slightly higher. I presume this would have been on a Gen 1 Coyote though. If it was me, i would push on with the rest of the build and sort out the cooling system, heater as it looks like those items are going to be an issue going forward anyway. So work on those with an aim of moving them out of the way. Cheers, Ryan

Dan, just thinking outside the box here, but the transaxle bolts you are having clearance issues with, could you countersink the bolt holes In the case and use countersunk head bolts in their place. This would leave the bolt heads flush with the case. I'd check with the transaxle manufacturer to see if this would weaken the case too much.
@delswanson3593
@delswanson3593 2 жыл бұрын
Just a thought...instead of welding in a notch, how about welding in an offset removable bolt-in section. That way you could take apart the back of the transaxle without removing it completely from the chassis.
@rudyyarbrough5122
@rudyyarbrough5122 Жыл бұрын
That has become an option for the C2 Corvettes, (63-67), because taking the tranny out is a chore with the welded-in cross member. There is now a kit to cut the member and weld in two flanges so that the member can be removed and transmission work is simplified and takes less time.

Looking at the air con unit. Drop it down in the front brackets so it clears the wiper motor, and move it away from the firewall. That way the rear of the unit will sit a bit higher for more foot room and also ther should be enough room behind it to fit the throttle unit.

Note: the oil capacity and the set level of an oil pan on a non dry sump engine set and required to be large enough so when at max rpm the level is maintained high enough not to stare the engine. At high rpm a large amount of oil sticks to the reciprocal parts like the crank, also a lot of oil stays in the valve covers/heads.

I went back again and had a look at your 20 Aug video. Yeah, bits of the body were obstructing with the intake of the throttle body. It seems like reversing the TB is opening a big can of worms. Modifying those bits of the body seems easy in comparison to re-engineering the reversed TB. Fitting a round peg into a square hole?? Don't change the round peg, change the hole.

Just watched this episode. Can you revolve/adjust the engine and transmission anticlockwise as you look at it from the back to get those three fasteners/bolts causing you a problem to line up horizontally ? That may mean you dont have to cut into a load bearing member. Perhaps a shim under one of the engine mounts might do the trick ? Looking great and well done so far.

@@BuiltbyDan Cool beans, cannot wait to see how that will look! Another thought was, not knowing about it, is the cmcv a vacuum only actuated system? If so, how about an electronic servo..? If this is a vacuum only system that opens as the go fast pedal is pressed, why not put a potentiometer on the pedal, that will send voltage to the servos, that will let it open as close as factory. There has to by a drive by wire pedal set up out there that one could use to piggy back that voltage. Even if your using an actual throttle cable, one could add that cable to a drive by wire pedal system by using swage or swageless terminal ends. I did something similar with the parking brake cables on my 2004 F150. I used a threaded terminal end to the cabin end of the parking brake cable, where I can adjust the nut to make tight the cable as it stretches. I just had to drill a hole in the parking brake pedal to fit the terminal end, worked like a charm. Cruise controls are really just basic servo systems, designed to hold the throttle cable, like on my 2004 F150. It has a fender mounted 'servo' that has a cable that reaches to the opposite side of the engine, that holds the throttle open at speed set. There has to be something Ford related out there that could work..? Are there any u-pick and pull car part recycle facilities close, maybe have a wander around the yard, see what is what, get some ideas..?
@BuiltbyDan
@BuiltbyDan Жыл бұрын
Thats an interesting suggestion. Through all my research I've not seen anything like that, but it makes sense. And this engine has fly by wire throttle already if that signal could be used... just a matter of how much time and effort I want to put into it as a temporary solution until I install the 8 stack setup.
@noidnomis
@noidnomis Жыл бұрын
@@BuiltbyDan I your going to go electrical, just need to find out what that signal voltage is, I would bet 12vdc, then go from there. Using a cruise control set up from a ford truck, I think that would be the best cost solution. The motor box is small and large enough, the cable linkage reaches to the opposite side of the engine, so it should reach if you mount them opposite of the armature, meaning the left mount operates the right armature. I don't know what the in/lbs are needed to move/hold the armature, but it cannot be that much if the parts are all plastic(?). A variable voltage power supply would help test to see if a cruise control linkage is a workable solution. If that seems more effort than value, a basic mechanical cable would work as well. A old 1982-ish+ style Mustang clutch quadrant, mounted properly (one each side, next to the gas pedal), would pull on a cable, the sheath mounted to the block, would pull the armature as you push down on the go faster pedal. Any long parking brake cable would/could/should work just fine. Really looking forward to you finding a solution..!😎
