This has got to be one of my favorite ways of tuning downforce in the entire series. Not only is it the first time since GT4 where road cars can have their front downforce tuned, but with front+rear aero and a diffuser, you can have almost as much total downforce potential as a dedicated race car. Not as much, but definitely enough to make a road car all the grippier. Also of note, if you get a diffuser, remove the rear wing of a car, get an adjustable gearbox and racing suspension, you can improve a car’s top speed by about 7% without even touching a car’s horsepower. The car I tested was the 2009 Corvette ZR1 C6, which had a top speed of 224 MPH stock, boosted to 240 MPH with the aforementioned upgrades.

@@Doughtinator any time fam. Ofc the setup isn’t a win-all; slamming a car as low to the ground as possible without stiffening the suspension means it’ll handle significantly worse in corners, especially with the additional downforce the diffuser provides, as I’ve learned the hard way when testing with height adjustable suspension rather than racing suspension. Another tip I tend to do, is maximize the rear downforce while tuning the front downforce from there, adding less when it oversteers at higher speeds, and adding more when it understeers. Unlike Forza where downforce seems to affect the car at even the slowest speeds, downforce in Gran Turismo seems to act like Looney Tunes’ depiction of gravity, with it acting sooner the more downforce there is, meaning downforce tuning is more than just providing a suitable ratio, but also providing enough to where it acts as soon as you would need it. As I’ve mentioned before, slapping on front+rear aero and a diffuser can land you as much as 200 front/300 rear downforce (plus the downforce already present on a road car if it already has some), which is comparable to actual race cars in this game with how much it improves a car’s handling. For example, my Suzuki V8-swapped ‘89 M3 sticks to the road like glue and handles well even with maximum downforce on both the front and the rear, almost indistinguishably well from a racing variant it could have had. Another use I’ve found for rear downforce in particular is keeping the rear wheels planted on a powerful car, for example, the engine swapped 1988 Silvia. Sure, enough rear downforce neuters the 300 MPH capability the car has by default (instead topping out at ~295 MPH without NOS), but it’s made up for with better acceleration by virtue of pressure put on the rear wheels, and can go around SSRX’s corners without braking or spinning out.

Its riterally broken, not using a rear diffuser puts at a great disadvantage against other cars, but it also dont make sense, like at all, if anything it should be robbing you of speed
@camarokidbb4347
@camarokidbb4347 Жыл бұрын
@@andrewandrew3713 Diffusers do provide downforce, but not in the same way as rear wings. They aid aerodynamic performance via ground effects, and also reduce aerodynamic drag, hence making a vehicle faster while providing more downforce. It’s not downforce itself that kills top speed, but rather the aerodynamic drag inherent with traditional downforce methods like a front and rear wing. Otherwise, the Red Bull fan cars wouldn’t be capable of 300+ MPH despite having less HP than a Bugatti Chiron.

I use hours on gt3 cars whit setup for them ( whit full tune ). Full tune on purpose because control them and it's way easier to control them in bop. ( That only my opinion 😜 ). I already found the most perfect setups for F-Type in my eyes. ( Several ). Also 1 that it's almost impossible to loose control of it over any apex and where it's VERY forgiving and easy to save if you make a mistake. I know it's probably not fast but one of them give you low 1:57 times on mount panorama. I love messing whit setups 😜 great vids your making 😀

Without downforce you have no grip through the corners, however in straight line acceleration that doesn't matter. Where the aero makes all the difference is at technical sections of the track with winding sections left and right, vice versa.

I'm going to give you amazing content here... When you race GT3 cars on the GT3 races, you have to hit 730PP, this is where that down force gets super interesting. When you lower the down force on the back and add more to the front, you lose 100 HP, plus the cars is not stable around turns. When you lower the down force on the front and add more to the back, you gain 100+HP, plus the car turns better. This is counter intuitive to the PP points going up and down, cause you would think you lose power for more stability and and gain power for instability?!?! Try it out and make a video about it, it was fascinating when I was trying everything to make my lap times better for GT3 PP 730 races, I see the power I got for adjusting the down force from front to back but after all my tests the more stability equaled more power and the instability created less power. I got smoother turns and higher top speeds with greater stability and 100+ more HP from lowering front down force to lowest and raising the back down force to highest. Make a video of this and enjoy.

Very interesting man. I noticed similar with the Gr1 Legendary LeMans cars. I’ve not tried it with the GT3 cars though.
@l337g0g0
@l337g0g0 Жыл бұрын
@@Doughtinator I figured this out. So without the PP system the balance you will do will be have less resistance over control with no PP system cause you will always by full engine power. So in that situation you will be balancing the top speed vs rear down force, more control over top speed. But when this comes into play with the PP system, you sometimes don't have full engine power, so they give you less PP points for full down force to comp for the lose in top speed? So now when you go fuil down force the PP lowers so you can get more engine power to comp for lose in speed, but now you have more control cause you have full down force with max power into the PP system. Also I just tested the down force with highest down force vs lowest down force and the engine power lose and gain, I'm pretty sure this balances out top speed for either setting of down force with the PP system (Again with none PP system in play, full engine power this doesn't come into play cause you are not throttling your engine power back ever), The top speed is just a smidge faster with full down force with full engine power to max PP. SO,,, I think this might be an oversight on their part cause more potential engine power with full down force is the only way to go, there is no point in lowering your rear down force, cause it's max power with full down force for control in the turns with no loss of speed, at least I can't figure what the sacrifice is for this yet.

Downforce tuning is arguably the best in the entire series for road cars for that particular reason. Before, it was a compliment, but didn’t outright transform the handling of a car. Now, it’s not only practically a must-have if you plan on going fast in a road car without worrying about handling, it’s also good enough to actually make a road car competitive with equivalent race cars, albeit with additional tuning variety.
@TheSilverShadow17
@TheSilverShadow17 Жыл бұрын
Downforce makes road cars more stable and easier to drive as well as demonstrated with the video. It's beyond me why more people don't take it into consideration when modifying vehicles on GT7, because in the long term you'll be multiple seconds a lap quicker with aero bolted on to your road car than without any downforce.
@camarokidbb4347

@@TheSilverShadow17 Because downforce = lower top speed, and lower top speed = slower lap times according to some people, forgetting that race cars aren’t just fast because of their high horsepower and low weight, but also because of their downforce.

@camarokidbb4347
@camarokidbb4347 6 ай бұрын
@@TheSilverShadow17 True. The only real situation where downforce doesn’t reduce top speed is when equipping a diffuser, and even then it’s only because diffusers by default provide their minimum downforce at 50 front/50 rear. Another quirk of diffusers is that they re-enable rear downforce tuning when you have ‘wingless’ equipped (applicable to cars like the R34 Skyline and the Spirit A RX-7; some cars have no rear wing downforce tuning regardless), so not only do you overall reduce drag with both diffuser and wingless, you still have a slightly wider margin to tune your downforce. Speaking of reducing drag, I believe that adding a diffuser + removing the rear wing is the only modification you can do to a car, besides weight reduction, that improves fuel economy without tanking horsepower. That said, the fuel economy’s only improved when racing around high speed tracks like Circuit de la Sarthe, or in combination with lowering power, as drag isn’t a factor until the car starts to noticeably slow down, versus weight reduction where fuel economy is saved because the engine in general doesn’t need to work as hard, or power reduction where the engine just doesn’t work as hard.

I noticed the slipstream area is affected by the wind vector. If it's perpendicular to the motion of the car in front, the area moves to the side the wind vector is going the farther back from the car in front you are. Observe how wind also affects rain splashing from tyres (after in high intermediate or heavy wet area). The water splashes also move with the wind. You can test this easily in the Le Man 30mim AI race.
