The second part of Grove Street gang analysis. At this time I tried my best to sum up everything what we know about their previous name "Orange Grove Families" as well as their "Orange Grove" hood.

Vadim M I dont know if this helps but goin up in LA when this game came out i believe they wanted to represent a certain actual Los Angeles street gang Called Hoover's with there gang color is orange and there gang slang to use his Groove or Grove so when making San Andreas i think they had that gang in mind but decided later on to Change the game's gang color and Name to stop hood politics and make the gane available for all people including enemies ofthe real life street Gang just stating what i know about the game and the real Los Angeles area it draws from

Orange Grove Families is said and referenced so many times in released GTA SA version that I always thought that THIS is the real gang name, while there are three sub-gangs - GROVE STREET FAMILIES, Temple Drive Families and Seville Boulevard Families, which are also reffered to in game.

In the mission 'High Stakes,Low Rider',Cesar transports Kendl to the race start.However,Kendl's model being the BFYST model. I think this is because this is the only time Kendl spawns in-game,so she have only the cutsene model,so the BFYST model appeared in-game to reduce spaces.

My theory is that in the Beta version CJ wasn't meant to be the main character in the game, makes sense if MC Strap was the character controled by the player. Instead of Johnson's House as main house, it would be the house in front (the one used for the OG Loc party). And the MC blip was changed to the CJ blip. Maybe in the beginning of the game you had to go to MC blip instead of CJ blip and go to the other house instead CJ mom's house. I think that make more sense. And the reason why the Rockstar changed from orange to green was because they made a lot of reference to some movies like the "New Jack City" which has the drugs and the apartment complex and the "Clockwork Orange" which has 4 main characters and an orange theme with Big Smoke's hat. (Orange Grove also had 4 orange characters Sweet, Big Smoke, Ryder and MC Strap). So in two months, Rockstar had to make huge changes to Grove and probably that's when CJ was made and MC Strap was turned into OG Loc. That's my theory. We weren't supose to be CJ but yes MC Strap. That probably answers to the question "Why all GTA Games have all their characters in loading art and GTA: San Andreas doesn't?", because CJ wasn't meant to be the protagonist, but yes MC Strap. ;)

the reason why sweet and ryder had green clothes while smoke still had the orange one cuz smoke was gonna betray the team since the beginning of the development while ryder's betrayal was decided later.just look at smoke all of his missions benefit crash and he was actually living in a ballas street while ryder's missions benefited the grove street families by providing them guns and his house is in the grove ryder also was talking to cj in an aggressive way just like sweet an act that shows that these 2 characters are mad at cj for leaving them,ryder is cj's childhood friend they basically grew up together and another evidence that ryder's betrayal was decided later is the fact that cj only talks about smoke,he only says that smoke sold them out and mentions ryder in the photograph mission and when he kills him.

Something I found odd about this is that Rockstar could simply made a reason like during the mission where we're taught to buy clothes in the game, CJ could ask "wait, we aren't supposed to wear Orange? Why are the orange grove families wearing green now?" and Ryder awnser was "We switched a few things days after you moved" or anything like that, it can be a good easter egg and it would explain the "Orange Grove Families" paints we see during the game...

One main reason not mentioned is bcuz Orange is too closely related to Red. Families already use Blood Gang hand signs and Bloods wear red. Ballas use Crip gang hand signs and wear purple which is Grape Street Crip's color. Blood is also another word for Family. They didn't want the gangs to be 100% similar to real ones. They ultimately tried several things to further dissociate from reality.

I like their old name OGF. I guess they are still called that, if they are now the Grove Street Families, then that's just a shortened Orange Grove...they are still the Grove. People probably started called them Grove Street for convenience so they decided players would do that too so cut the Orange from the common title. And used green because I guess it stands out from the orange hue of the game better. And Grove Street, maybe for in game reasons you could say it was renamed Grove Street un officially by the residents and really would be Orange still...or the city council renamed it. I like to think the gang works under both titles...it sort of still does. 8:48 Well, it's not uncommon for houses to look the same, in-fact is rather unusual to have a street full of different ones, at least majorly.

Showing Ryder without glasses only increases the similarity to Eazy-E. I suppose that's why they never showed him without them. Even if the black shades were Eazy-E's trademark almost, Ryder didn't look exactly like Eazy with those glasses on. Without them the similarity might've been too close and I think Rockstar would want to avoid making any character too similar to a real person.

Interesting video, I remember in the early previews how it was always orange grove families. Makes me wonder if the story was originally supposed to play out differently? Was there an orange sabre as opposed to a green one? Was the whole Big Smoke and Ryder betrayal angle part of the plot originally? It would be really interesting to know all of this someday. I honestly think R* like to keep these things a secret because it generates discussion about GTA and keeps the series at the height of relevance.

TBA - to be announced (date). I was bored when I was doing it. Sadly, there are some beta map renders, so I decided to put one map on another and rapidly change the order. By doing this you can clearly see the differences, but it is lame, because there are no pictures, no lods left from the old map places and all I can see that this building was cut and there was another road there. Nothing else, you should use your imagination how it looked. I really don't know if this video will be up, but at this time I have no idea how to make it simply interesting.

I dont know if this helps but goin up in LA when this game came out i believe they wanted to represent a certain actual Los Angeles street gang Called Hoover's with there gang color is orange and there gang slang to use his Groove/grove so when making San Andreas i think they had that gang in mind but decided later on to Change the game's gang color and Name to stop hood politics and make the gane available for all people including enemies ofthe real life street Gang just stating what i know about the game and the real Los Angeles area it draws from

Fun fact: OG Loc house in PS2 was different from PC version.... In PC version OG Loc house was bigger like in the model 8:35 while on PS2 OG Loc has a small house according to my researches... Lol

Why Orange Grove St changed to green , well if you see the reference of Rockstar gangs in Los Angeles you found a same battle in 1992 between Los Angeles' Blood(Some like Orange) And Crips Gangs(Blue), that can explain why they changed a lot, copyright or legal problems.
